Genital warts and pregnancy

Hi ladies,
Who got this during pregnancy? And what do you do about it? Does it have any consequences for the baby?

Hi, there's nothing you can do about it. Your immune system is lower, which allows the warts to spread more easily. Most medications are harmful to your baby, so it's best to wait until after pregnancy to start treatment.

But does it have absolutely no effect on the baby?

No, normally it's not harmful. I'd still have the gynecologist take a look just to be sure.

You're welcome! Good luck with that, and congratulations on your pregnancy!

Mark Jansse, it's not true that you never fully get rid of it... After 6 months, and in most cases after 2 years, most people with GW are free of it and the virus can no longer be found in blood tests!!

Live healthily, exercise, eat well, and boost your immunity!!

I've been having discharge, itching in my vagina near the lips, and I see something white near my anus. Could it be warts? This is my first pregnancy; I didn't have discharge or warts before. I washed my vagina with vinegar—could that be causing the warts?

You can't get genital warts from washing with vinegar. Unfortunately, you already caught it earlier, which is why it came to the surface during your pregnancy. I myself had it checked by the doctor 10 times or so before my pregnancy because there was doubt whether they were warts or not! I also went to a gynecologist abroad who said they weren't warts. Now that I'm pregnant, I have bigger bumps, and I hope they're not warts. I'm holding my breath????
