Cold water phobia?

Hi forum members!

Since last weekend, my husband and I have found out that we're 5 weeks pregnant with our first baby.
We had actually decided to take it easy and try gradually, but boom! It happened right away. We're also aware that at 5 weeks you're far from being "there" yet, and that a lot can still go wrong.
But I was wondering how you all experienced your first pregnancy? I suddenly get cold feet sometimes, thinking, "Can we really do this? How is it all going to work?" And my contract ends during my maternity leave. Then you start driving yourself a bit crazy.
Just to be clear, the happy moments are what dominate! But now and then, that uncertainty pops up, and I'm extremely anxious about miscarriage or childbirth. Reading other stories gives me some support and helps me learn!
Thank you so much for taking the time!

In 2013 I was pregnant with our first child, and now I'm halfway through the second.
Pregnancy shouldn't be a reason not to renew your contract.
Of course, everyone has moments like "can I handle all this?" and fear of childbirth because you don't know what to expect.
But since you're doing it for the second time, once the baby is here, you can always rely on each other. My partner was always scared to hold little babies and had no experience with caregiving. But once she was born, everything just came naturally. Of course, you also have postpartum care support to fall back on. I wasn't afraid of childbirth, but I was excited (the good kind of excitement).
I was induced at 38 weeks, and it lasted from start to finish for 36 hours, but with 6 pushes, she was here. I really experienced it as something beautiful, though of course there was pain. It's all worth it, and apparently, it's not that bad because in May, it's going to happen again

We’ve had 3 miscarriages behind us, so for this pregnancy I was really anxious.
Up until now, our boy is doing really well, so the joy is growing more and more and I’m starting to get used to it.
You’re only truly at ease once you’ve given birth and can go home.

I remember thinking during my first pregnancy: shit, now it's in, now it has to come out again. And that scared me to death. In the end, everything turned out fine, of course. My labor was long, but you just go with it, it just happens to you. I do recommend taking a pregnancy course that you find enjoyable. And staying true to yourself. Listen to what you want and don't let others talk you out of it. (Where to give birth, breastfeeding or not, etc.)

that cold water phobia is so relatable
i think it's all about becoming aware.
the realization now is that it's really like this, the awareness that you're going to carry a huge responsibility.
but it's all so worth it.
being a mom is so special, 1 minute after birth you can't even imagine that your little one was ever not there, unconditional love.
sounds cliché but i have to admit it really is like that. i'm now pregnant with the third.
