That's great, Chrisje, congratulations! Hopefully, everything goes well this time and the ultrasound next week shows a clear picture!

It's a completely different story for me. I'm about 6 weeks pregnant now, but there's a chance it might be a molar pregnancy again... I'm going to see the doctor this afternoon.

But enjoy your pregnancy, and hopefully, you won't stress too much

Oh, that's intense. Wishing you all the best. But how can they already think it's another molar pregnancy at 5 weeks? At 5 weeks, you should only really see a gestational sac, right?

Losing blood every day is a very clear sign for me. I had that last time too.
Last week, the ultrasound showed a gestational sac and yolk sac, but also some other spots in the lining that could indicate a mole (fluid-filled spaces). Then the OB-GYN indeed said it was too early to draw real conclusions. Today I have an ultrasound to check the development. Hopefully, things will become clearer now and I'll know where I stand.

Oh Liesje, I really hope everything is okay for you!
Can't a pregnancy be continued if there are other "spaces" present in the uterus..? Or am I asking a weird question?
  5. liesje #25

The problem with a molar pregnancy is that these fluid-filled sacs grow aggressively. Your uterus then expands extra fast, so by 20-24 weeks it’s already pressing against your ribs. Also, these fluid sacs come from overgrown placental cells, which can enter your bloodstream and spread to other parts of your body. There, they can develop into malignant conditions.

It does happen that a fetus seems to develop at first, but usually it dies off around 6-8 weeks.

So it’s definitely not something you want to keep carrying around in your body.

Okay, thanks for explaining it so well.
But yeah, those aren't exactly comforting thoughts if you don't know how a complicated pregnancy like that will turn out.
  7. nicole 1979 #27

Oh my, Liesje, pff, so insecure and anxious... I feel you.
  8. liesje #28

Thanks, girls but back on topic, Chrisje! Let us know how you're doing sometimes?

Liesje, I hope you get a good ultrasound! So you can enjoy it later too. Let me know how it went, okay?

I’m trying to enjoy it, but I still can’t really believe that I might be pregnant, especially since the miscarriage was only 6.5 weeks ago! I’ll call later for the hCG results to see if I know more then. I don’t feel pregnant at all right now. Just a bit nauseous, nothing else, whereas last time I really felt pregnant.

I’ve had few complaints this time too, Chrisje. Every pregnancy is different, of course. Let us know what the result was. Rooting really hard for you!

Just got my test results. My hCG is still elevated, but they don't dare to say whether it's from the previous pregnancy or if it's a new one. So now I'll just have to wait for my appointment on Tuesday.
  12. nicole 1979 #32

Oh, it's still exciting, girl... we're keeping our fingers crossed!
  13. Nannie ❤ #33

What was the value then, Chrisje?
  14. liesje #34

Chrisje, that sounds so exciting! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

    Anyway ladies, I'm completely confused.

The ultrasound did show a gestational sac of 3mm with a good heartbeat! The sac has also grown nicely, now measuring 1 cm (it was 4mm 6 days ago). If she hadn't known my background, she would have seen this as a completely normal pregnancy and just looked past a few light spots in the BMS. Those light spots are still there, but she's not sure if they indicate a mole or not. The gynecologist doesn't dare say either, so they're going to get in touch with a mole expert.

My hCG from last week actually matched up nicely with the gestational sac. I just had another blood test, and the results will follow.

So for now, it's a light positive, but the fact remains that I'm still bleeding every day. So according to my doctor, it's still a 50/50 chance whether everything is okay or not.

    Time will tell.

Oh Liesje, what wonderful news! Although it's still an uncertain situation.. But you can see that bleeding doesn't always have to be bad news! Hope the values are good too and that you'll soon be able to just enjoy it, girl :-)

Honestly, I didn't even ask for the value; it doesn't mean much to me anyway! Waiting a week always feels so long, pff..

That's pretty good news, isn't it, Liesje? It's just strange that there was bleeding. When will you get more news, and what steps are they taking for you now? I'm rooting for you too! And hopefully, we'll both have more certainty soon.
  17. nicole 1979 #37

Oh my goodness, the tears are rolling down my cheeks. A heartbeat, wow that's amazing, but then that announcement, my heaven. How enormously your feelings can swing back and forth... I'm cheering super hard for you. Big hug.
  18. liesje #38

Yes ladies, that's how it goes in the medical merry-go-round unfortunately. Everything is a rollercoaster, we've been at it for 2 years already. We're watching it here day by day and next week I'm going back for an ultrasound. In the meantime, just hoping the bleeding stops.

    Thanks for your sweet responses
And tears Nicole, dear, I've shed enough of those. You really don't need to cry about it anymore
    To be continued

Liesje, we have someone on this forum who has been bleeding for quite a while now. The pregnancy is going well, but she has something in the uterus against the wall that's causing the bleeding. I'm not sure exactly what it is or what it's called, but maybe it's something similar for you and therefore quite harmless.. let's hope so..
  20. nicole 1979 #40

Oh dear, crying is something that works at the moment... I have a brother who has gone through the whole medical rollercoaster... I know from very close how terrible this is... especially when it doesn't work out... After years of trying, hormones, injections, etc.
I've seen the pain and definitely felt it myself after having children. That's why I really empathize because I know now a little bit how awful this situation is.
