  1. Linda #21

Is Doris a bit common? I find Doris more of an old-fashioned name. Like Doris Day, for example. I think it's nice though!
Here in Rotterdam, I actually hear it more as a yuppie name rather than plain or common.
I find names like Patricia and Daniëlle a bit more plain.
    Nina is really beautiful though!
Of course, do what you find beautiful!

I think Julia and Quinn sound amazing!
  3. ii Guest #23

Don't let the other one steal my name! Pick your own name.

I find Julia and Quinn not to be a beautiful combination.

I mean Doris in England: it's a bit common there.
  4. Linda #24

Haha, I was surprised myself, ii! You’ve got a copycat!
Ah, in England. I’m not so sure about that, I thought you meant here.
Turns out it can also vary by city what the popular names are, etc.
  5. ii Guest #25

    Linda,

Yes, that can definitely vary by city. I don't know any Dutch woman named Doris either, but apparently there are some in Rotterdam. Learned something new.

I have family in England, so I do have some idea of how names work out in the Netherlands or England.

    Felicia?

Thanks for your opinions! I really appreciate it. And I do understand what you're saying. However, I kind of side with Linda. We both think Nina is beautiful too, but my dog was called that in the past, and I find that a bit weird :-)

We just can't figure it out! I still have 1.5 months to go, but still, it's getting closer!

We searched the internet again and suddenly thought of the name Vera. What do you all think? Old-fashioned or trendy?
  9. ii Guest #29

You now have a detective series called Vera. Cool woman
She's good at Dutch and English.
  10. Linda #30

I think Vera sounds classic. Not necessarily old-fashioned, but I don't think it's super common either. Timeless?
  11. Irma 1987 #31

    Linda, beautiful. Lindy or Linde.
  12. Emily Guest #32

    Vera is lovely!

Emme, there are some really nice names in there! Unfortunately, my husband is enthusiastic about different names than I am, which is why we have this naming dilemma.
    I think it's currently between:

    Eloise
    Vera
    Nina
    Tess
    Uma
    Fay(e)
    Elsie

Quite a big difference from our previous list. Thanks to you all! Thanks!
  14. Hummel Guest #34

    Oh, that's quite a different list! :' ;
  15. Linda #35

Faye, also beautiful! Fits nicely with Julia!
  16. Lloyd started this #36

Hahaha I know, Hummel! There were also so many doubts with the first list. Eloise is still on it, so it’s probably that, but we like the other names too, so nothing’s certain yet!
  17. Emily Guest #37

I think Eloise is really great! Nina and Vera too. Tess feels a bit too short, I'd prefer Tessa. I think Uma is ugly, reminds me of grandma. Faye isn't my taste and I only like Elsie for a baby. Good luck with choosing!
  18. Hummel Guest #38

Of the new list, I prefer:

    Vera
    Eloïse with the ï
    Nina

    in that order.
  19. Maxine Guest #39

We gave our daughter the name Eloise, which is also half English! Beatrice was also on our list!
  20. reina Guest #40

I actually think Emily fits really well!
