Forum Baby Names

Ilse, Sanna(h) or Sanne

Hi forum members,

My husband and I just can't seem to agree on a girl's name. We prefer Dutch names, but we can't decide on any, so maybe we should cross that criterion off our list. We've come up with the list below. Which name do you think is the most beautiful/lovely? Or if you have any other ideas...

    I like Ilse the best!
I think the name Sanne is nice, but in our case, this name comes up so often that it starts to feel a bit boring..
And besides the Sannes we know, we also have girls with the names Hanne, Anne, Lisanne, Janne, and Lianne...

There are so many Sanne's around right now, so I wouldn't choose this - although nice - name.

    Ilse
    Or maybe Sandra is something?
    Or Hanneke

Is Ilsa maybe a bit much?

Sandra, I really think that's such a popular 80s name.
We have a Saar! Maybe that's something?

It's all nice and all, but as a mom, shouldn't you yourself know how you want to name your child for the rest of her life? It's so irritating that they ask someone else. This is personal; if you really want an opinion, you can ask the dad. But otherwise, just go by your OWN feelings. You're the one who will connect your child to a name for the rest of her life. So follow your own gut!

    I'd go for Sanne!
Sanna (f) is original but a bit posh.
    Good luck!!

Anonymous, I always think that too when I read name topics here... But nowadays it seems like everyone is really concerned with someone else's opinion..
So we then politely give: what silly names just go with Sanna

Hahaha Linn. It's so impersonal to ask a stranger something so personal. It's about your own kids after all, hahaha. But as you say, it seems not everyone has their own opinion/personality.. So they'd rather hear someone else's hahaha. I think it's ugly though. You'll have to call your child by a name for the rest of their life, so you'd rather go with your own gut feeling. Or ask the father, after all it's the creation of a papa and mama.. But yeah..

    Yeah, lol..

Linn and Anonymous: If you're bothered by this, why are you reading this forum? And it's actually helpful to know if people associate the name with something negative!
  12. linn #13

What does it matter if strangers see the name negatively, how important is that..

I agree with Emme. I also find your responses really disturbing.

Besides, this forum protects people from meanings of names they didn't even think of.

As far as you're concerned, Linn, I'm bothered that you're helping someone else disrupt the topic of the original poster. The OP isn't looking for comments or why they're asking a question here.

It's obviously the point to give your opinion on a name.

Back to the topic: out of these three names, Sannah is the most original. I'd go with that one.

That they're helping someone else disrupt?! Hahaha. Aren't we here to ask for opinions, and isn't everyone free to express theirs here?! Including the opinion of people who believe that choosing a name for your child is a personal choice.. If you find my opinion disruptive, that's your opinion. The question on this forum is really about choosing from 3 names.. No one is asking for meanings ii! If you post a question publicly, you should expect to get answers you might not like.. I indeed believe that you should follow your heart when choosing a name for your child, simple. But hey, that's just my opinion he

    Agreed with Emme and me.
