Moms who are pregnant with a second or third child

Hi mamas,

Here it comes, hormones probably play a role. Although the second pregnancy was planned and wanted, I feel guilty towards my son if everything goes well, the baby arrives in March and he turns 3 in May.

How did/does your oldest experience the baby? Not that he feels like all the attention goes to the baby, and I don't want that either.

Now, dad took time off around the birth and did that too.

How did you and your oldest child cope with everything?

I'm following along.. I'm only 5.5 weeks pregnant with our 2nd miracle. Our son turns 2 at the end of January. I'm so happy about it but also feel guilty! Guilty towards my son.. my mom says it's totally normal and that she felt the same with us. And yeah, hormones!!!

It's probably just hormones. The first one is special, and the second one definitely is too.

But here's the thing: when our little boy turned 1, we stopped the pill, hoping the second one would come around his second birthday. But after being pregnant for over a year, I'm now 9+ weeks along. He'll be 3 in May, so the little one will arrive in March—almost a three-year age gap.

I was hoping for a few more replies.

Hi! We're expecting our second little wonder in February too, and my first one will be 5 in November. He's really looking forward to it and can't wait for the baby to arrive, hihi. I don't feel guilty at all, and later on, I'm so glad we waited and didn't have them close together. Especially now that he's more independent and understands things better. He already has a sister who's 15, but that's a different story, and she only comes on weekends.

Oh yeah, and what is a big age difference? My sister and I are 3.5 years apart and we always had a lot to do with each other. During puberty it was a bit less because I felt a bit old for a 12-year-old at 15, but it naturally got better again. We are each other's best friends and now both pregnant with our second child.

I've always said I'd like an age difference of 3 to 4 years. That way I can give all my attention to number 1 and now to number 2 as well when my daughter is at school. It's very personal, of course, but I'm glad it turned out this way.

On the one hand, you might be right now that he doesn't get it, but later on when I get a bigger belly, he'll be almost 3 and indeed even more independent.

But I don't want him to think all the attention goes to the little baby, and I don't want that either.

When I was pregnant with #2, I felt incredibly guilty towards my little boy. He was so happy, but still, I lived with a guilty feeling every day. Now I'm pregnant with #3 and feel mega guilty again.
