Right at the top of my list: the baby wrap! For the first few months, I used an elastic one (not recommended for summer babies because it gets too hot, but fine for the colder season). Since then, I've switched to a cotton woven wrap, which she still uses sometimes. It's so much fun!
Otherwise, I've had great experiences with diapers from Kruidvat and LIDL: cheap and good. I found Tummytub nice for the very beginning, but they do grow out of it quickly; later on, the sink in the kitchen counter worked just as well! I washed her in there for months
I can barely remember any real mistakes (2½ years later). Oh yes, diapers from Albert Heijn. Terrible, what a rash she got from them! We threw the pack away.
And shampoo and body wash from Zwitsal, but I already knew beforehand that I found it stinky So I never bought it; Kruidvat provided a good (and nicely smelling) alternative.
A diaper pail with special (expensive!) refills is a mixed bag. In the beginning (breastfed poop, which you hardly smell), all the diapers just went in the regular trash. Now, however, the poop diapers stink so much that I'm glad we bought the diaper pail after all. Although I still smelled it through the three layers of plastic during the first three months of my current pregnancy, haha Because of the expensive refills, we still put the pee diapers in the regular trash.
Haha yes, this is indeed super handy. Because there are so many things on a baby registry list....
Recommendations:
Hydrophilic diapers (lots of them)
Cheap high chair from Ikea (so handy and they sit so comfortably in it, not exactly the prettiest ;-))
Wrap-around bodysuits
Wrap-around shirts
Babybjorn sleeping bag
Diapers from Jumbo
Fitted sheets from Silkysleepbaby (especially if your baby has hair, helps amazingly against matting and bald patches from rubbing)
Weleda
Sudocrem
Avent bottles
Mistakes:
Bath recliner (I didn't trust it, so you end up holding her anyway ;-))
Lodger baby carrier (way too warm and she kept slipping out, always had to go looking for her)
Diaper pail (wouldn't even describe the feeling here ;-))
haven't tried the tummy tub, don't know why, but it's not really my thing?
up to how many weeks and months can you use this?
I found the bath super nice and relaxing, and the little man seemed to enjoy it too
now that I'm approaching my due date, I'm thinking about using a bath again.
what's your experience with the tummy tub?
