When (after how many weeks) did you tell people you were pregnant and why then?

Hi ladies,

I’m curious about how many weeks into your pregnancy you told people you were pregnant. I hear people telling others after 12 weeks, some do it after 8 weeks, and others even earlier. I’d love to know when you shared the news and why

I'll do it after 12 weeks, probably in the 13th week, since things can still go wrong until 12 weeks...
I was told that I might have a miscarriage quickly because I only weigh about 45 kg, but I'm on low vitamin B12 and D, otherwise completely healthy, so I don't expect it, but of course I want to wait just to be sure...

We told the first people 15 minutes after I took the test. So I was 5 weeks then. We were so happy, we had to share it. Then immediate family at about 8 weeks. And officially at 11 weeks after the first ultrasound.
I deliberately told them quickly because if something had gone wrong, I would really have needed their support. Luckily, it stayed good news.

I totally get why some people tell people before 12 weeks, especially to get support if things go wrong. I found it nice to keep it to ourselves, just a little secret for our tween. My partner wanted to tell people as soon as possible though. At 11 weeks we told close family and at 12 weeks we told friends. If it had been up to me I would have waited until around 20 weeks haha, although I probably wouldn't have held out anyway because I'd run out of excuses for not drinking alcohol

    Hi there!

We're 9 weeks pregnant and have our first ultrasound in two weeks for our first baby. We want to wait until 12 weeks to tell everyone because things can still go wrong. But it's hard because you really want to shout the good news from the rooftops hihi. My partner really wants to wait until 12 weeks, so we'll stick to that. For our parents and in-laws, we're coming up with something unique to tell them.

Hi! We told them at 10 weeks. It’s still pretty early, but after the first check-up/ultrasound, we just couldn’t keep it to ourselves anymore. Everything was fine, and the baby was so active on the scan.

Hey Yvonne, if you've had the first ultrasound, that's also really nice and hard to keep to yourself. It's cool! My friend wants to tell at 12 weeks, wants to be sure everything is okay, I can understand that. But seems hard to me haha

    Told with 3.5 weeks hahaha.
Took the test at 6:30 AM and half an hour later we were at my parents' door.
    Why so early?
Because it can always go wrong, even after 12 weeks. I was so happy to finally be pregnant and received an incredible amount of support during the hospital period (mmm) before getting pregnant.

Hi Lotte, yes, I can totally understand your friend's feelings. My mom had the same experience, and indeed, after the ultrasound, he couldn't keep his mouth shut either???? With the first one, I told them right away, by the way, little one. It's such a fun and special thing.

Well, that's true. When we get our first ultrasound, I'll be 11 weeks, so why not a week earlier? Well, it could also go wrong two weeks later, but we're not assuming that. Hihi. Anyway, we're doing everything together and in consultation. It's definitely special. I can't wait for the first ultrasound.

We had an ultrasound yesterday to be sure about the due date, it makes a difference of four days hahaha.
It's so special how the baby moves and you don't even feel it. Have a lot of fun with your first ultrasound. I filmed it with my phone, really quite nice. Enjoy it and also telling people about it.

We told our parents, siblings, and friends at 8 weeks (right after the first scan) with the message to keep it quiet for now. At 10 weeks, we informed our grandparents, and at 11 weeks, our circle of friends since we were all together at a dinner. We would have preferred to wait a few more weeks, but it was the perfect moment since we had everyone together.

Do whatever feels right for you! My gynecologist thinks the 12-week rule is outdated because you're at the highest risk until 15 weeks, and once you've heard a beating heart, the risk decreases significantly.

Good luck to everyone with the pregnancy, enjoy it!

We told everyone right after the test. So when I was 4 weeks pregnant. So early because I can never keep my mouth shut and we were shocked that it had worked out so quickly told friends at 6 weeks, because we had a weekend festival and it would have been pretty obvious if I wasn't drinking anything then. The rest after the first ultrasound at 8 weeks. Everything so early because it can still go wrong even after 12 weeks!

I told my mother-in-law right away because we were going to eat at her place that day, and I’d already quit smoking, so she’d probably guess otherwise.
My parents and siblings also found out pretty quickly that week.

At work, I kept up the act for another two weeks by stepping outside at my usual smoking time, so I managed to keep it quiet until after my first visit to the OB-GYN. I finally told them at work and some close friends when I was 7 weeks pregnant.

The rest of the world found out after the 12-week ultrasound via Facebook.
I’m not good at keeping secrets, so for me, it had already been long enough by then!

Right after the test, haha, I was 5 weeks then.
At 6 weeks, I told the whole world, hahahaha.
I really can't keep my mouth shut, and since it took us so long to finally get pregnant, I was just super happy, hihi.

When we were just pregnant, my aunt heard the news first because I was at her workplace. At 7 weeks, we had a family celebration on a Saturday, and everyone got to know. Funny thing was, we still had to do an ultrasound. Luckily, on Monday, the heartbeat was there, and everything has been going well so far!

We found out at 6 weeks. At 7 weeks, we had our first ultrasound, and the little heart was already beating!
We first needed to let it sink in for a few days and come up with a nice plan to tell people. We told our parents and two good friends at the end of the 7th week. The rest had to wait until the 12th week. If something had gone wrong, we would have had to disappoint a lot of people.

Hi! I told my daughters directly and my husband the next day, so about 4 weeks. One day before NOD. I'm waiting until next Sunday after my blood test to tell my in-laws.

We told our parents, in-laws, and siblings around week 6. As for everyone else, we waited until after the 12-week ultrasound and the NIPT test.
  19. Mommyofaprinces #20

With Hope (our first little girl), I told my parents, grandfather, and sister pretty much right away. (I did a test in their presence!)

Then I told my in-laws at 8 weeks, and made it official at 10 weeks!

For our second, I told my parents and in-laws the same evening we tested positive, and made it public at 10 weeks!
