Pill and pregnant, how do you notice it?

Hi, a question!

I forgot one pill in week 1 or 2 (don't remember exactly) and took it after about 24 hours.
Now I got my period on Saturday, but since then maybe 4 pads with some drops of red, pink and brown blood..
1 time when wiping dark brown and a bit more.
So it's very little and I'm having quite a lot of symptoms.
I read online that if your withdrawal bleeding is less and you have symptoms, you could be pregnant.
I'm going to test anyway but just wanted to ask!
Anyone has experience with this?

Hi there! I’d just test it out to be sure. With my first, I was also on the pill, but I had really bad flu-like symptoms and ended up pregnant. I only found out at 14 weeks because I still had what felt like a period during the first three months????

    Hi Samantha!

I’ve also been reading everywhere that a lot of women just keep menstruating.
What stands out to me is that I only had very light bleeding for 3 days, brown, pink and occasionally red.
My period is over now and I don’t have to take the pill again until Thursday.
Usually it lasts until Wednesday and I have a lot of bleeding.
Also, the symptoms are getting worse and worse..
    How did you find out?
Was your period different or did you notice it from the symptoms too?
I will definitely test but I’m afraid of disappointment, secretly I’m still hoping even though it’s unplanned.
I’ve thought I was pregnant more often before but it wasn’t the case then..

Hi Eva! I suddenly got really sore breasts, especially when I woke up in the morning. Then my mom called and immediately said, "You're pregnant!" haha. She told me to go get a test, and yes, I was pregnant at that point. I didn't even need to miss my period yet; I just had those breast symptoms. What symptoms did you have?

    Hi Samantha,

I mainly have this weird feeling all the time, a bit of dizziness and a strange sensation in my body.
Flashes of nausea, but very mild, once it was intense.
Fatigue, but that's only gotten worse in the last 2 days.
Had muscle pain right before my period was due, mainly in my legs.
Also, after a lot of exertion, I almost fainted once, went black in front of my eyes, etc.
Headaches, mainly in the morning and in the evening.
More burping, but if I eat a bit, I get full quickly.
Visible spider veins on my legs and my right breast has more prominent veins (normally only on the left).
Otherwise, the glands in my chest seem a bit swollen, but my breasts themselves don't seem very different, they don't feel different either.

Hi Eva, that's quite a few symptoms! Have you checked if they're on the pregnancy symptoms list? I'm pregnant again now, 12 weeks, and my symptoms this time are nausea and being really tired. That was mostly during the first few weeks, but it's a bit less now. Luckily, I don't have to take an afternoon nap anymore haha. The nausea was also really bad in the first few weeks, but now it's just occasional. For the past two weeks, I've had occasional stabbing and aching pain in my lower belly, but the midwife said that's because my uterus is growing. And sore breasts. With my first one, I had almost no symptoms except sore breasts and a few times throwing up. With the first one, I wasn't nauseous at all. Symptoms are different for everyone though. Is this your first pregnancy if you're pregnant? And when are you going to test? And just a quick note on your previous message saying it would be unplanned, but then maternal feelings might start to kick in hihi. If there's a chance, I'd test as soon as possible to not drive yourself crazy.

    Hi Samantha,

Yeah, there are quite a few symptoms, and yes, they all happen during pregnancy.
This would be my first pregnancy. I've already told my mom I have a vague suspicion, and she thinks I'm pregnant.
I'm going to test as soon as possible!
Probably won't get to test until next week though, 1 so it won't be a doubtful case and 2 because we're stuck with a broken-down car, haha.
I've also been getting some little twinges here and there since yesterday, seems to be coming from my womb..
And when I eat I get nauseous and really hot, it's quite strange.
    Congratulations on your pregnancy!

    Hi Eva, thank you!

Oh, that's really disappointing You must feel pretty tricked by your own body! I'd go to the doctor for a bit if your symptoms persist, to see if there's another cause. But maybe this has opened a door to finally go for a baby, since you really want one anyway. Good luck, girl, I know how it feels to have a negative test in your hands. We've been trying for about half a year and have done quite a few tests.

    Hi Samantha,

I do have one more question though..
My husband came home with a test even though I had peed 5 minutes earlier.
He was all excited, saying let's go test now!
But the result was very little and very light urine.
So I'm wondering if it was reliable since I really had to try hard to get any urine out..
    Or does it not matter?
And yes, we are indeed planning to go for it!
I'll definitely go to the doctor, that's for sure.

Hi Eva, I’d still test with morning urine because that’s when your hCG is highest. For extra certainty, maybe test 3 more times with morning urine. And how nice that you’re going for it now!

    Hi Samantha,

    I'll definitely do that!
    You'll hear from me!
By the way, I think I'll just have it tested at the HA

Giseren tested at the GP, not pregnant.

    Round 1 has started
    I'm really curious!
Of course, we'll still do a bit of contraception first, but we're going for it!

Hi Eva, that's less but also exciting that you're going for it. Good luck!

It might happen quickly or not, but try not to stress too much about it. During your pregnancy, I’d start a few days earlier and have intercourse every other day, then a few days after that, so you’re sure.
