Heart rhythm disorder during pregnancy
Hi ladies,
A few weeks ago, at 8 weeks pregnant, I had a heart rhythm disorder for the first time in my life. Now, some tests have been carried out, and based on these, the cardiologist (though he can't say for sure) thinks it's a WPW 2 condition. This is an extra conduction pathway for electricity within the heart that can cause overload, resulting in a heart rhythm disorder. I was really shocked by this, since I'm pregnant. This is operable, but during such an operation, the arrhythmia is first triggered by electric shocks to the patient's chest, which is obviously very bad during pregnancy! My mother also got rhythm disorders for the first time during the pregnancy of my little brother. She had a severe episode at 6 months pregnant and didn't feel my brother for a day, even though he was normally very active. During the delivery, it turned out there was old meconium in the amniotic fluid, so he was struggling during the pregnancy and pooped into the amniotic fluid. Now, it's not about movement, but he does have ADHD as the only one in the family.
To make a long story short; I'm now facing an impossible choice: Continue the pregnancy and hope nothing else happens during the rest of the pregnancy, with the risk of one or more severe rhythm disorders that could cause permanent damage to our unborn baby.
The other option is to have surgery, with all the associated risks..
Oh my, we were so shocked. I'm going to contact the gynecologist again this week to see what he thinks and what the impact might be for our little one. You imagine a pregnancy differently after this
Does anyone here have experience with this?
