Hey Kelly,

I stopped taking the pill at the end of July 2013. I had my withdrawal bleed after that. After that, we didn't use protection anymore, but we also didn't use ovulation tests; we just let nature take its course. I did take Etos "get pregnant" pills, which contain something to help get your cycle going again. I didn't get my period after the withdrawal bleed and had a positive test on September 10th. My daughter is now almost 14 months old. We're trying for a second baby now.

It can take up to a year to come off the pill, my GP told me. There are quite a few symptoms... Just Google it! It also helps to track your cycle - then you can clearly see if it's still very irregular or if it's starting to stabilize. It can also take a few months until you get your first 'real' period, meaning the first ovulation.

You can start trying for a baby right away, but many women choose to wait until their cycle is well-established and their hormones are a bit more stable.

    Good luck!

    Hey Kelly,

Can't tell you much about "stopping the pill" yet, I myself stopped taking the pill last Friday after 10/11 years of use... But I can tell you what our "plan" is... I'd really like to have a real period again first before we really go for it, because then the start is a bit clearer, and until then we're being safe I did start taking folic acid and vitamin D last Friday.

I didn't want to start using ovulation tests etc. for now, we'll see first
I'm already feeling a bit nervous!
    Good luck anyway!

Here, an exciting period is also starting, even though you don't want to think too much about it, I do.
I stopped taking the pill in June, and then I just got my period, for 4 days.
The following cycles lasted 28 and 31 days, and I had bleeding for 2 days.
Did you have more of that?

I stopped the pill on August 8th. From August 9th to 13th I had withdrawal bleeding and from August 15th to 18th withdrawal bleeding that was only visible on toilet paper.. (I was only on the pill for 2 months)

Has anyone experienced withdrawal after such short use?

I currently have many complaints and it seems a lot like pregnancy but it could of course also be the withdrawal. (Expected period on Sept 6th.) Should I take a test just to be sure on the expected period date?

    @deborahwesley

I'd say wait until you're due for your NOD, but I've also often not been able to wait and tested earlier. I know better than anyone how awful waiting and having patience can be! I'd say do what feels right.

I don't know much about post-pill fertility, only that every body is different. For example, I witnessed my sister getting pregnant in round 1 both times right away. No post-pill issues or weird cycles, just straight up pregnant. But I've also experienced other situations. You can't do anything but give your body time. You can't do anything but be patient, no matter how hard that is!

If I were to test, it would be 1 day before my expected period. I'll still do it in the morning though. But maybe if I can manage, I'll wait a few more days. (Tests are luckily not expensive at Action) If I test positive, I'll get a CB test. But I just expect to menstruate anyway (a negative test isn't too disappointing either)

Yeah, it does seem like a good idea to do the test in the morning. And I kept telling myself that it would probably be negative

Still, it always felt like a disappointment. Good luck with it! And I hope you get pregnant soon.

thank you so much, it'll surely work out. I hope for my friend that it doesn't turn out too disappointing if it's negative. he's been looking into a lot of things that seem like symptoms or unusual eating habits. but we'll see. there will always be some disappointment, but I haven't pinned my hopes on it.

    Hi!
I stopped taking the pill last February after using it for 11 years. What I noticed when coming off the pill: irregular cycles, sometimes pregnancy-like symptoms (such as sore breasts, nausea), which unfortunately are also part of coming off the pill. So far, unfortunately, haven't gotten pregnant yet, but we're keeping our hopes up
    Good luck!
