More who have to wait until you start trying to get pregnant?

Hi! My boyfriend said he’d really like to try for a baby in October. Well, my clock’s already ticking at three-quarters of a year now. I stopped the pill in January, and honestly, those months to October feel like they’re dragging by. He told me two months ago that he’s keen to go for it in October.

I’m so happy about this and really want to share the news!

I’m now doing an ovulation test every month to see how my cycle is and whether I’m ovulating. We’re also trying to get out of church extra early on those days. Haha (even though it wouldn’t be unwelcome if it happens by accident, but I do want it to happen on purpose which I totally understand).

    Why wait so long?

I’m also wondering why he’s only really going for it in October....one thing is certain: it’s not safe to rely on withdrawal, so there’s a chance you could end up pregnant sooner.
When I read your question: people who HAVE TO wait until you try to get pregnant...I was actually thinking of something else, like a medical reason or something.

And the answer to your question: yes....I really HAD to wait because of my internist. She knew I wanted to get pregnant, but my blood sugar levels were so unstable and I had to start taking medication. She wanted my blood sugar levels to be better first before I got pregnant, and secondly, she wanted to find out if the medication could harm the unborn child during pregnancy, since these medications are normally not used during pregnancy. So I was really told not to get pregnant for a while...it’s really annoying when you’ve already stopped using contraception. So we switched to condoms, because withdrawal is pretty much the worst form of contraception...by the way, I don’t think doing that for months on end is fun either.

That's so annoying! No, for me it's not about having to wait for that reason, but because my boyfriend has other things he wants to do first before he's ready to start. And for singing, the church is definitely not the smartest method, but well, if it goes wrong, then it's also expected. We have a dislike for Robbertje. But anyway, it's annoying when you really want it and then you're held back for medical reasons. So you don't know how long it will still take? Strength!

Umm, my profile picture should show an ultrasound photo.....
This story took place last year, we got the green light from the internist around May and I'm now 32 weeks pregnant

I understand that for you it's not a must... but rather a wish from your partner to do some other things first.
It's October before you know it.

I totally get you, loesje123. I was ready for it way before my partner was, and I really struggled with that. I'm 32 and was really worried that it wouldn't happen naturally.
Luckily, February suddenly became the moment when he was finally ready, and now I'm just six weeks pregnant! So actually, it happened pretty quickly, even though it felt like a long time for me
He said the other day, "I suddenly see pregnant women everywhere." Which I've been hearing for months

I have a slightly different story, but it comes down to the same thing. My husband had to get divorced when he started something with me, but he had already discussed that he wanted to be with me and was already living with me. Only his wife didn't want to sign for the divorce. He didn't want kids until she had signed. I found that really difficult. But we did it without contraception. Then I got pregnant, and after a while, he was happy with it and didn't see why he should wait until she signed. I can really imagine how hard it is to have to wait and I also think the man should personally make more effort to put himself in our shoes regarding our desire for children, because we won't always be fertile, unlike them.

I do indeed have the feeling that we women are often more ready for it than men, Madelene. Probably we hear that biological clock ticking sooner than men, who like to get things sorted first and don’t have that same biological clock.

And indeed Yvonne, once you’re pregnant or trying to conceive, you suddenly see big bellies everywhere

I wanted kids 4 years earlier than my husband...
My husband never definitively said he was ready and when he really wanted to go for it...
And now he's quite involved in it too and was pretty disappointed last time when I got my period again...
Hoping that before we go to Efteling we might get a nice positive test (only too bad that I won't be allowed on the rides then)

Yes, Mandy, I think so too
We're now trying for a third little miracle,
but unfortunately, it's taking its time.
My two girls just came along naturally; especially with the youngest, I got pregnant quickly. In December we decided to go for it, and by January I was already pregnant with her.
But unfortunately, it's not quite working out for this third one yet.
Since my two girls also came naturally without any issues, my husband wasn't keen on going to the doctor just yet. But I've managed to convince him to go after all, and we've agreed to do it in January next year.
So for now, we're letting nature take its course.
If I hadn't emphasized how important it is for me to take things seriously, he wouldn't have agreed to see the doctor yet.
So sometimes it's good to remind him just how important this is for us women.
    Greetings, Madelene
    And yes, it's already October

    Congratulations
It's nice to read other people's stories too.
Today was my ovulation day, and I've been using the singing method over the past few days and today as well. So secretly hoping for a miracle.

Hi! We used condoms for the first few weeks during "the pill transition" and also for oral sex... What did you all find most comfortable? Using a condom feels a bit less warm/wet or something, but it's nice that you can keep going until the end. With the pull-out method, you really have to be quick, we've noticed, hehe!
