Not pregnant yet and already started on the baby room!

Hi Marcella, it's so nice of you to share this with us.
Personally, I think you should never assume something won't work out. Just think, "I'm a woman and can get pregnant like millions of other women."
Never start thinking about whether it will work out or not.
Your body unconsciously adjusts to that.
So try to stay positive, just think "I'm going to have kids," and if it doesn't work out, then it's something else. Only then start stressing.
Never compare yourself to people who aren't having success.
Also, it's really sweet of your friend how he handles the idea of preparing for a baby already.
I can imagine you found it really upsetting that your sister-in-law told your best friend. That's something only you should share, not her.
Hopefully, you'll have some good news soon
And enjoy daydreaming about this special time that's surely ahead for you
Love, Madelene

Thanks Madelene, for your kind, positive reaction.

I really wanted to share it with you all! Indeed, I shouldn't try to stress so much about whether or not it will work out. I've only just started trying, and I really shouldn't worry until quite a bit of time has passed. My boyfriend is such a sweetheart, so positive. I really wish him the same, to carry his baby, to be able to hold our child in our arms. A child is, after all, the most beautiful and precious thing you can give your partner. That's why I'm so scared, what if it doesn't work? I'd find that really hard, for him and for me. I really shouldn't always want to look so far ahead, which is quite a trait of mine. I always try to think about everything: "What if it goes wrong, what if this or that doesn't work." Whereas my boyfriend always thinks positively about everything. We complement each other this way, I think!

It was a nasty little thing my sister-in-law did, probably not intentional. But still, it made me very sad. Because I want to tell my best friend that I'm full of joy only when I'm pregnant!

I'll definitely daydream and spend many evenings in our baby room together with my darling. Hopefully, we'll conceive soon! As I hope for each of you. I'm really enjoying the fact that we're truly trying!

    X

hopefully your baby room will be filled up soon,
i wish it for you from the bottom of my heart
    but my personal opinion,
you're a bit ahead of yourself,
what if getting pregnant doesn't work out?
what if it takes years like many women
(including me) to have a little miracle.
what will that room do to you, to you both
every time you're confronted with something that isn't there.
    i wish you a healthy baby(ies) anyway.

    greetings

You're absolutely right, we were really quick about it, which is why we're stopping buying stuff now. We're just very impulsive and super excited about becoming parents!

And it can indeed take years, I've already thought about that. I want to try to stay positive about it, just like my partner. It can be confronting if it takes longer, and I realize that the nursery is already set up like that. I'm only two months into this journey. For now, I can still really enjoy being in the nursery with him. I'm just letting it all wash over me! Seeing what happens, how long it'll take... No one knows. I'm trying to stay positive.

It's so sad that it's taking so long for you guys. You wouldn't wish that on anyone. I hope it won't be long before it works out for you! And I wish you a wonderful, loving, fertile baby time too.

    Love, X

    Hi Marcella,

It’s not nice at all, first of all, that your sister-in-law said that. You really need to hold your head up high. It’s a shame it’s ruined now, but you can’t turn back time. Now you can share everything with your friend, from start to finish.

I don’t think it’s that weird, honestly, if the desire is so big that you start working on it. It’s sweet that your friend is so involved; he probably wants it just as much. Don’t let what other people think get to you. You never know how long it’ll take, so try to let go a bit. I really hope you’ll be successful soon, girl..

Hey Moon, thanks for your sweet reply.

Yeah, I've talked it through with my sister-in-law now. I was really angry. I can't take it back now. But now I can share the happiness with my girlfriend a bit earlier.. she loves it!

How nice that you can understand it too! Yeah, it's just exciting. And we tend to jump ahead of ourselves with several things. So yeah, that's why. We're just so enthusiastic! And I just shouldn't worry about what others think. I hope to get a positive test in my hands soon. Hihi.

    Love x

I totally get it. We’re not pregnant yet either, but we’ve already finished the baby room. It’s so much fun! I even have 3 sets of clothes, socks, slippers, onesies, and whatever else you can think of. I was like, if you can get it now, why not? We’ve only been trying for 3 months. I’m hoping for a quick positive test, which is what everyone waits for, of course.

It’s definitely mean when someone else shares the news before you want to. But usually, I wanted to tell no one, but my husband was so happy he already told people. Oh yeah, the only annoying thing is that they keep asking if it’s working... pffff, it makes you feel so discouraged...

I would never do that, because imagine if it takes years or doesn't work at all.

I understand the enthusiasm and hope you find luck, but… geez, you guys are jumping the gun. We've been at this for 4.5 years without success. The room we wanted to set up for our little one was initially left unfurnished when we moved here, and even that became too confronting at one point. So we furnished it as a chill room instead. We do talk about it regularly about how we want it when it's finally granted to us, and we've even bought a nice outfit and a baby towel. We're now starting a process with egg donation and hope that it will ultimately fulfill our biggest wish. I wish for you that it doesn't turn out this way, but be aware that it's very painful if it does, and everything is already in place.

That's what I mean, it could take years or might not even work out

This is really an old thread, ladies.
