Of course it's exciting for your little man to be left behind, as it feels like you're leaving him behind. It's a whole new experience for him to play with kids his age without mom around. Luckily, the caregivers are used to this kind of thing and will make sure he doesn't miss out on anything.
It's mostly your own sense of guilt and a new phase you've entered: letting your little friend into the big world, very cautiously.

It went super well!
It rained for a bit, but I was already gone.
Dean played with a baby on the mat, changed, ate well, and then played outside with his little walker. Super proud now. He can go again on Thursday.
