Frisian name

Hi!
Since my partner is very Frisian and we live in Friesland, we'd like to give our baby a Frisian name. But we'd prefer one that doesn't make people in the rest of the Netherlands go "huh?" too much.
For a few names I really like, I'm a bit unsure about that. That's why I'm asking: what do you think of:
Berber, Fardau or Marrit (for a girl)
and Sybren (for a boy)?

    I don't really like Berber..
But I do like Fardau and Marrit!
And I think Sybren is a really nice name and definitely not a name that makes people raise an eyebrow.

Marrit and what do you think of Syben?

I still think Sybren is quite nice! But the rest (sorry to say it) nothing, especially Berber I just don't like at all..

I love Frisian names. Marie, Bauke, Silke, and Feike are all beautiful too. Choose the one that feels the most comfortable to you.

A berber is an oriental rug. So I wouldn't do that anyway.

Hmmm, but Roos, Jasmijn, Margriet, Luna, Storm, Finn, Mees, Merel, and Amber are all things too, aren't they?

Sybren is such a beautiful name! Super!
Just like the names Sierd or Sietse...

Fardau (peace) is also beautiful to me! Another Frisian name I like is Saske! It sounds so cheerful!

When I hear Berber, I think of an African person...
(Berbers are the original inhabitants of North Africa). That's my association, which is why I don't find it very Frisian either... Honestly, I don't find this name that appealing either...

Haha, you guys are making it hard for me! I have to admit, Berber was pretty high on my list. I think it’s a warm, lovely-sounding name, and I know a really nice Berber from back in the day, which probably helped too. Luckily, we still have some time to think about it :-) Anyway, thanks for your responses!

Silke, Mirthe, and Jurre are nice Frisian names...
    I'm also from Friesland.

Funny that Berber isn't popular, while it's a totally normal name in Friesland. I think it's a lovely name too

Nice name, really! Just go for it! Who of us knows you or vice versa, and we can always say something about every name.. if you live in Friesland and it's a normal name there, I'd just do it. Xxx
