Can you ovulate again after 3 weeks?

Hi, my name is Emma and I'm 25 years old, and I've been trying to get pregnant for a little over a year now! Here's my story/question.

I have a little thing... I took an ovulation test 8 days ago (2 days after my period started) just to make sure I wasn't pregnant (my mom kept bleeding through, so that's why! But a pretty strong line appeared. Not quite positive yet, so I also took a pregnancy test, but that was negative. Then I thought my egg must be coming, but the line kept getting lighter and lighter, and now I still haven't ovulated, and I'm on day 15 of my cycle. Yesterday I suddenly got my period, with quite a lot of blood. I had to put in a tampon, but no pain—I've never had that before. I've had a little bit of blood before, but then I had a positive ovulation test in my hand, so that was blood from my ovulation. So I googled it and kept coming up with implantation bleeding, but how could I have ovulated 2 or 3 days after my period? That's 3 weeks after my last ovulation.

I've also been feeling a bit off for a while, with a sore throat and all that, but it's not going away.

My shortest cycle is 3 weeks and my longest is 30 days. Usually I'm between 26 and 28 days, with one cycle of 3 weeks (so about 21 days), and last time my cycle was 30 days!

My question is: is it possible to ovulate 3 weeks after you've had an egg, so 2 or 3 days after your period?

I find it all quite vague.

I hope someone can help me.

Love,

    Super thanks Janne!!

I’ve been testing since that day too, and just did another test and it’s getting a lot darker already, so I think my egg is indeed still there. Still have to be patient hihih!

    Thanks again!!

    Love!!

Hi Emma, it's possible your egg came out during those 12 hours, but it seems quite unlikely to me. I actually had a strong positive ovulation test for two days in a row (yesterday and the day before), and now it's starting to fade (but still showing two clear lines).
See the photo below. The bottom test is from today, the two above it are from yesterday, and the one above those is from the day before. The top one is from Wednesday.
So my peak has just passed, so I'll be doing some more "klussen" tonight and then onto the waiting game
You mentioned you've been trying for almost a year, have you already contacted your GP or the fertility clinic for any tests?

    Hi Janne!

Yeah, I’ve already been to the doctor and we’re allowed to get checked out!!

But I also always get 2 dark lines, darker than the control or even the same darkness, and I’ve had that every month when I was using ovulation tests. Now I’ve laid all 10 tests side by side and the darkest line is the first test, but that means my egg must have released on day 6 or 7 of my cycle, and that bleeding came exactly 7 days after that. I’ve never had bleeding like this in a cycle before, except for a very light bleed around ovulation. But at the same time, I don’t really feel well either, and I read that all of this can mess with your cycle!! Of course, I’m hoping for a pregnancy, but I always feel something every month and it always ends up being a period!!

Ugh, I’ll just keep testing, maybe it’ll come yet and I’ll have a cycle longer than 30 days hahaha

How long have you been trying? And do you already have kids?

    Love

    Hey Emma,

So maybe your ovulation was indeed earlier than you thought, let's wait and see..
Maybe it was indeed implantation, exciting! When would your period be due if you take that first dark test as your ovulation date?

I haven't been trying for very long, about three months now. I don't have kids yet, so this would be my first one! For my job, I've always supported teenage mothers during their pregnancy and for a few months after birth. Then you see how quickly and sometimes unexpectedly a baby can arrive, while others with a specific desire for children have to wait a long time. It shows that as a woman, you really have no control over what your body has planned for you, right .

I'm still in the very early stages, and it's always waiting and seeing for me. Kudos to you for going through this for a whole year! When can you start getting tested?

Good luck in advance, and I'm crossing my fingers for you!
