Amniotic fluid

Hi ladies, I searched online but couldn't find anything. Does anyone know how amniotic fluid is produced and how it's constantly refreshed?

Hi :-) The amniotic fluid is initially produced by the mother, and later the baby drinks and breathes it in and pees it out again. I don't know exactly how it's produced. What I do know is that with my first child, my membranes broke in the evening, and I was really scared that the amniotic fluid would run out before the baby was born, but it keeps getting replenished.

I think the placenta plays a good role here. If the placenta isn't working well anymore, you often also have too little amniotic fluid.
