Pregnancy test results

Hi! I was hoping to be pregnant since I was already 3 weeks late. I took two pregnancy tests, both negative. I collected urine for both tests and held the stick in it, assuming you could always either pee over the strip or collect urine and hold it in. But I still haven't gotten my period and suddenly wondered if the result was wrong because I should have peed directly over the test? Or can you use both methods with any test?

I've never actually tested it that way, so I can't really give you an answer.
Maybe try a test where you pee on it?
And if it's still negative, maybe go see your GP. Because being 3 weeks late is quite a long time.

    Good luck!

Hi anonymous, it's possible you did it a bit too quickly, for example by holding your urine for too short a time.
I also had a negative first test when I was pregnant with my youngest daughter, even though I clearly felt something was going on.
I noticed it already 4 days before I could actually test.
But the test was still negative, then I tested again a day later and it was positive, very clear test, two thick lines. I was then 2 days late.
Not every pregnancy test is equally sensitive, I think.
3 weeks late is indeed quite a long time.
    Greetings, Madelene

    Hi everyone,

I'm Nicole, 32 years old, and have been married for almost 6 years.
I stopped the pill in August 2014 and started taking folic acid in November.

Had unprotected sex on Feb 14 and got my period on March 5. So now I'm almost a week late, but all tests are negative, which makes me so unsure.....

I've had food cravings and now I'm really feeling super nauseous, I'd rather not eat anything....
I also have to pee a lot more than usual and yesterday I had cramps on one side.

I'm going crazy with myself, I just feel like I am..... But that test just won't cooperate....

    Hi Nicole,

    Are you pregnant yet?
  5. nicole #6

Hi @hartje, no unfortunately not. I got my period more than a week after the IUD insertion, it was a really bitter pill. But now we're moving forward again.

    How are you doing?!
  6. hartje #7

Good, I haven't had my period yet. Last time was February 16th. It's a bit weird because in ten days that'll be two months ago. I'm a bit confused myself too. The test was negative last week. How many rounds have you had, Nicole?
  7. nicole #8

@hartje oh my goodness, that's intense. Wishing you lots of strength while you wait, hopefully you'll have some (positive) news soon.

We've just started our second round.

Fingers crossed, fingers crossed, fingers crossed, fingers crossed.

    Yeah, I hope so too.
I'll drop by the doctor next week.
When is the day you were supposed to get your period?
  9. nicole #10

    @hartje

Wishing you lots of strength again.

April 12th is my due date.
  10. hartje #11

Okay, I'll try to keep it in mind. Let me know if you end up getting pregnant or not?
I've been noticing some slightly yellowish discharge. Could that also happen before your period?
  11. nicole #12

    @hartje

Yes, I'll definitely let you know.

I have no idea whether yellow discharge is also part of the period coming up; I've never had it myself anyway.

When are you going to the GP?! Let me know then?!

    Strength while waiting

I canceled the appointment. I was really sure yesterday that I was pregnant because of the bump I also had in my belly last time. Same feeling and dizziness. And my period was late. Last time was February 16. I always have very irregular cycles though. Tested on March 31 and it was negative so I'll test again on April 7. Who knows, maybe then there'll be official clarity
  13. nicole #14

@hartje oh my, that's so exciting! I'm rooting for you ????????????
  14. hartje #15

Tested today instead of tomorrow. Still negative. Really weird. April 16th was already two months ago since I had my period. It can't be the tests, right? I used the cheapest ones from Kruidvat. Hope I'll get my period soon and can try again.

    @ hartje
Maybe pay a visit to the doctor? With a blood test, they can quickly see if you're actually pregnant or not.
Because as you say, 2 months is quite a long time not to have gotten your period.

I've made another appointment for mid-April.
