Kai or Kay

Hi ladies. I'm now 32 weeks pregnant with a son. We already have a daughter.

We're thinking about the name Kai or Kay. I sometimes read that Kay is pronounced like "Keej".

What do you think?

    I’d pronounce both names the same way. I think Kai is nicer, but that’s just a feeling! Good luck!

    My husband isn't a fan of Kaj, so that option is unfortunately out.

    I have a son, and a lot of people also pronounce his name incorrectly—not everyone, but most do, because it has a slightly different spelling than how it’s pronounced. It’s a foreign name.

    It kind of depends on how you want to pronounce it. If you want the pronunciation "key," I'd go with Kai.
    Kay is indeed also an English girl's name. I know a girl with that name and she is indeed pronounced like "key."

    But honestly, I'd just choose whatever you both think sounds the nicest. Because if you find Kay prettier (with the "key" pronunciation), you can just go for that, right? You get used to it anyway

    So both could work!

    It's a really nice name!

    I'd pronounce them the same way too.
    I think Kaj sounds the nicest, but that wasn't meant for him.
    Then I'd prefer Kai.
