bottle refuser after being sick.

My 5-month-old son was in the hospital for a few days in early Feb with RSV. When he got sick, he started refusing bottles with cooled-down breast milk. Now that he's better, he still won't take bottles. I've been working half-days lately, and feeding went okay then. But now I'm back to full days, so the gaps are too long. Today he refused his bottle, so he barely ate anything during the day. I'm working again tomorrow, but I bought rice cereal to see if he'll eat that instead.
Before he got sick, he had no problem taking the bottle.
How do I get him to take it again????

Just have patience, I think. He drank from the bottle, so it's not like he can't or doesn't understand. Keep offering and persist. I'd be careful with rice flour though, as it can really clog the intestines, leading to issues like constipation and cramps. If you want to offer porridge, it's better to buy rice flour (for example, from a health food store).

He'll only get rice cereal at most on the days I work 8 hours. So max 2 times a week, so I'm not immediately worried about him getting tummy troubles.
But good news, he's already drunk 2 bottles given by his dad.
Now we'll keep practicing. Dad gives the bottle and I'm on another floor. Hopefully it'll go well on Monday with grandma too.
