ovulation tests

Hi ladies, I have a question.

I have long cycles, between 30 and 40 days. Now I want to give it a try with ovulation tests.
When should I start with that? Which day exactly?
And should you do the ovulation test every other day or daily??
I hope someone can help me.

According to the instructions, it should clearly state when you should start testing, since this depends on your cycle. Then you need to test every day until you get a positive result.

Here’s an example with the explanation for the Kruidvat ovulation tests:

    Thanks for the reply, Mandy!
I'm on day 39 now, expecting my period these days. No real symptoms, but no bleeding either—hopeful!
How are you doing? Do you feel well and enjoy it?
If not, it'll be round 9 and I'll do an ovulation test.

My little one is doing well, which is the most important thing.
I do have quite a few pregnancy complaints, but now that the first trimester is over, the nausea is thankfully almost completely gone, so that's a relief

Good luck with the tests. We were trying for 9 months, then used the tests for 2 months, and then it was a hit

    Glad you're enjoying it!

First baby? For us, it'll be our second if it works out. It's and remains a miracle, right!

But because of PCOS, my cycles are so irregular. I might get referred to a gynecologist to start Clomid, which would speed things up. But we're choosing to wait until May and let nature take its course. If nothing happens by May, I'll contact my GP again. It's okay to wait; medicine isn't everything.

    Because it should be possible.

You'd expect that if you can find your ovulation, the chances are already increased!
Testing isn't that difficult or expensive either. Just check what time is best for testing and whether it fits your routine. When it started to show a light color, I tested twice in one day because I couldn't test around 12 due to work. So I tested as quickly as possible after work and also at a fixed time to compare the tests. I hope you don't need them, and if it works out this round, I might have a stack left over.

With cops it's more difficult, what a nice thing that you already have a child.
With us it's the first child.
I wish you lots of success and hope that it will soon work out to get pregnant.

I'm only hard to pin down when it comes to being fertile, Mandy.

@Bertha, first wait for the BBT, but can't you do an ovulation test in the morning?

I don't really feel any pregnancy symptoms.

    @irma
Unlike pregnancy tests, it's not recommended to use first morning urine for an ovulation test. The LH composition changes overnight, making a measurement less or not reliable at all. The best time to take an ovulation test is usually around midday.
Also, a faint line is negative, unlike in a pregnancy test.

But what I don't really get is, isn't it best to have sex 2 days before ovulation or 1 day before?
But thanks for the explanation and that it's best in the afternoon.

@irma yeah, they do say that. It's better to start earlier because 12 hours after ovulation you're already way too late.
The good thing is that the LH peak is well before your ovulation (1-2 days). The downside is that some women barely find a peak and others test positive for 2 days. But I'd say if you cluster around the peak every 2 days, you can almost not miss it, right?
