Making your own birth card

Hi!
I have a question: does anyone here have experience making their own birth cards? I really want to DIY mine—I’ve got plenty of time and I’m quite crafty haha. It shouldn’t look cheap, though; it needs to have a nice look and feel. I’m confident I can pull off the card design itself, but I’m more worried about the text. How do I get it to look neat and proper?
I’ve scoured the internet but couldn’t find anything really useful. Hopefully, someone reading this has experience and/or tips for me.

No experience, but maybe it's not a good idea to design a basic card yourself and then decorate it?
Cut it to size, decorate it with what you like, but then you have the text and such neatly where you want it.
I designed my daughter's card myself on hippe-geboortekaartjes.nl
You also have a choice of different paper types there, so it doesn't have to look 'cheap'.
Anyway, have fun crafting.
