What to do???

I had issues with this after giving birth, and the best tip I can give you, if you've already tried everything else, is to contact your GP. They can prescribe you a safe laxative. I'm breastfeeding and first tried Lactulose, then Movicolon because my baby got very gassy from the Lactulose.
You'll feel much better when you can just poop.

Thanks for your reply! How coincidental, I just had to run to the toilet;-) such a relief! Now it's important that it doesn't happen again;-) terrible!! But tnx!!

I’d still go to the doctor. Obstipa can cause hemorrhoids in many pregnant women... then you’re even further behind.

Another tip was to get enough exercise. Walking. And a warm, not hot, hot water bottle can sometimes help with relaxation.

Moving is indeed always good. But for example, I move a lot and eat lots of fiber, and even so, I still have issues with it. I often use magnesium hydroxide, which is readily available at the pharmacy. This keeps things soft and won't harm you or your baby. Things like Movicolon, I just can't get along with magnesium, I have no trouble with. Good luck with it, hopefully you'll find a good solution

It's going up and down a bit... terrible because I really am adjusting my eating habits, but it doesn't seem to work equally well every day... I'll have a chat with the midwife on Thursday about what to do... I think this might be the most unpleasant symptom so far... It's also strange that I didn't have this at all during my previous pregnancy... I did have a bit more trouble with bowel movements after giving birth, so maybe that's related... *sigh*

I know the problem :-( As I already said, I move a lot and eat only healthy food with lots of fiber, but it's still an issue. If I forget the magnesium for a day, I immediately get symptoms again. Apparently, my bowels just work faster during pregnancy 1 than they did before. Luckily, I only have this issue during pregnancy, and it's my only complaint, so I shouldn't complain :-) Otherwise, I haven't had any issues or had any problems, so... I hope your doctor has a solution for you, but she definitely does, since it's quite common.

I had it too, it was difficult. They said kiwi, lukewarm water, and lots of movement, but it didn't help. Just stopped by the GP, but it'll probably be a permanent issue.

Thanks for your replies! I'll discuss it tomorrow... it's really such a nasty little ailment!! But anyway... you get something beautiful out of it in the end!!
