Good morning,

I don't know if I'm in the right place, but I need some advice. I'm a 33-year-old woman with a son who's almost 2, and my partner is 56. Now I want a second child, but I'm also hesitant, mainly because of my partner's age. Or do you think that if you want it, you should just do it? My partner says he's willing, but I know he'd rather not, due to his age.

So my question is: should we go ahead or not? We want to, but age is a factor, and we've been together for over 8 years.

    Hey Bianca,

    I think you should mainly focus on how it feels for you both. If you're both okay with it, why not? Ultimately, your son is still so young, so I don't think there's a huge difference in waiting a couple of years.

    If it feels right and everything is in order, I'd go for it and not put it off too long.

    Hi Nathalie, yes, if we feel good about it—which I'm not entirely sure about regarding my partner—I definitely don't want to put it off, since we're both already at an age, haha. So ideally, as soon as possible. But I do feel good about it myself. I'm trying to find out from my partner today because he wants to add a dormer window for an extra bedroom, and when I asked why, he didn't really give me a response. Yesterday we were looking at junior beds, and then he mentioned a second one. This morning I asked if he really meant it, but again, no real response. So I secretly think he does ;-)

    yeah he'll probably have his doubts and maybe some 'fear'. Talk it over calmly together and if things are good, you'll just feel it. The advantage of being a woman ;-)

    Let me know what decision you two made?
    I'm curious.

    Yes, that's good, Natalie. I'll keep you updated. And yes, fear is the worst part for him, and feeling good isn't a problem, haha. Yes, sometimes women do have advantages ;-)

    If you both really want this, you should just go for it. It shouldn't matter what the rest of the world thinks, as long as you're happy, right?

    Hey,

    There's an 11-year age gap between me and my partner! By the way, he already has a 10-year-old son! And we've gone for it too; we don't lose sleep over people's reactions. I'd say, if you're both on board, don't hesitate too long and just go for it!

    How exciting, girl! Have you talked to your partner about it yet?? I hope you'll soon be able to say you're expecting 56 is still so young... 40 is the new 30, right? And having little kids keeps you young.
