Isabel or Zoë

We're really torn between Zoë and Isabel. We think Zoë's meaning is really beautiful, but the name is quite common these days. We think Isabel is a very pretty name, but not as sweet as Zoë. What do you all think?

    I think Isabel is also quite common now (maybe it varies by region, since Zoë isn’t very common here). I find Isabel sounds nicer than Zoë, but I guess that’s very personal.

    I just wanted to mention that they are actually 2 very different names. The first one is a bit edgy, and the second one is elegant.

    I think Isabel sounds so much nicer and more lovely than Zoë... So I'd go for Isabel without a doubt! Such a lovely name!

    I personally find Isabel less beautiful. We're also torn between the names Zoë and Merle, for the same reason—Zoë is so common.

    Thanks for your replies! I also think Merle is a really beautiful name. It was on my list too, but it doesn't fit so well with the last name. I'm leaning more towards Isabel now, but my partner isn't convinced yet.
