pregnant or not?

Hi everyone,

I have a question. I've been taking the pill quite irregularly; I missed taking it for 4 days previously. I had stopped taking it for about 2 months, during which I missed one day (day 2) of taking it. I took it again for the next 2 days.

Last week, I had unprotected sex with my partner, and then I forgot to take the pill for the following days – very silly. I didn't continue taking the pill.

Could I possibly be pregnant now?

I had my period the days before due to the irregular pill use, but on the day of intercourse, it had stopped.

I hope for some answers. I would really like to get pregnant again (after a miscarriage..)

It sounds like you're taking the pill very irregularly, which makes it much less effective. But if I understand correctly, you had sex right after your period. In that case, there's also a good chance that ovulation hasn't happened yet, so you're probably not pregnant. But it's not completely safe.

Why do you take the pill occasionally if you actually want to get pregnant?

    Good luck!

Skipping the pill now and then is really bad for your body. If you've been off the pill for 2 months, it won't work during the first month after stopping. If you're trying to conceive, I'd suggest talking it over with your partner and ditching the pill if he's on board with that too Otherwise, you're just fooling yourself, your boyfriend, and your body. Also, taking the pill is pretty bad for a potential pregnancy, by the way. As Aloly said, right after your period you won't ovulate. But I think your body is out of sync, so you never really know.

Muus, taking the pill occasionally isn't bad for your body, that's a myth. It just doesn't work well as protection. Aloly has it right: after two months of stopping, it's no longer effective. If you really want to get pregnant, stop taking the pills and try openly. Are you unsure? Go to the family planning clinic for advice.
