too little information about hormones and mother's tea after giving birth

It’s only now that I’ve noticed how little is said about the postpartum period in baby magazines. They barely talk about how heavy it can feel, and how little we’re prepared for the postnatal period—it’s something I’ve really noticed.

Of course, it’s a special and beautiful time with your baby. But it also has its challenges, like the hormonal shifts and how to deal with that. You don’t read much about it, even though I think it’s so important to be able to truly enjoy that special time after birth.

Anyway, I was wondering if other women notice this too, or am I one of the few? Personally, I think it would be better if we were better prepared and talked about it more before the birth.

    Hi Madeleine,

That's something I've noticed too. I also think you need to be more prepared for what might come after. I had quite a hard time after giving birth and really couldn't handle it anymore. So much comes at you all at once.

Hi Samantha, nice that you replied and shared your thoughts.
That's exactly what I meant, just like you described it.
The first few months after giving birth with your little one can be so intense.
It seems like people don't like to talk about it, but every mom goes through it.
I also think that's partly because baby magazines don't write about it.
And that's such a shame because if baby magazines were more open about it, you could find more support among mothers.
They only write about the pink cloud and what you can expect during the 9 months of pregnancy.
Which is, of course, important and very interesting when you're pregnant, but the time after with your baby is even more important.
Suddenly, so much hits you emotionally in the first few months that you have to process. Because not only has your little one been born, but you too have become a mother.
That's how I always see it. Of course, it's a pink cloud and wonderful to become a mother, but it's not just that pink cloud. After pregnancy, a lot hits you: broken nights, sleep deprivation, which is often underestimated, and then there are the hormones that suddenly drop, which you have to learn to deal with.
So personally, I really think it's much better if they prepare mothers for the intense first few months, which can be quite heavy at the start, and that motherhood can be very hard besides that pink cloud.
If they prepare you for that, I think you'd handle it much better, and it wouldn't be such a surprise after your pregnancy.
    Greetings, Madelene
