Mees and Merel?

Hi!
Our son is named Mies, and we're expecting a daughter now.
Merel is our favorite, but we're wondering if Mies and Merel go well together since they're both bird names (not on purpose, we just think they're beautiful names). What do you all think?

Hi mom of Mees! If the name really feels right in your heart, then go for it. Merel is a nice name, smooth and lovely. Only, with Mees it feels like two bird names. But on the other hand, later on they'll each go their own way as adults, and no one will compare their names anymore. It would be a shame if you don't give Merel. That's just how I see it. Greetings, Madelene

    Hi mamavanmees,

I think both names are lovely, but I wouldn't choose them together. A colleague of mine has two little girls and they're called Zonne and Sterre - both nice on their own, but that's pretty much it, really .

You can never really choose wrong, I think. If you think it's the most beautiful, don't hesitate.

I also looked for a long time for an alternative to my son's name, and in the very end, we went with our first choice anyway .

    Greetings!

Thanks for the honest feedback. We're finding it really tough. Our hearts are really drawn to Merel. We just feel that 'vibe' with it. But we don't want our kids to get teased later for having a name from a bird's nest or something... but anyway. We still have some time. I'm 24 weeks pregnant.

Nice names... Mees and Merel... I'd just go for it! I get your point a bit, but I think...
If kids want to tease, they'll always find a reason... (Last name, rhymes or a twist on a name, physical features, etc.)...

    Good luck! :-)

If your heart is set on Merel, don't hesitate, mamavanmees! Many people in my circle didn't even think our name was beautiful, but we still went for it because it had the right vibe for us too - no regrets at all And agreed, you still have a bit of time, but something tells me you'll keep coming back to Merel...
    So it's Mees and Merel!

Hi mom of Mees, I also think you should just give the name Merel. It’s not for nothing that it feels so deep.
If he’s in your heart, just give it. It would be a pity if you didn’t and then ended up regretting it.
It’s a nice, smooth name and also quite cute with Mees.
When they grow up, they’ll go their own ways anyway.
Personally, I don’t think at all that they’ll be bullied. People do get used to names.
Very nice, Merel. Just do it, I’d say
    Greetings, Madelene
