What's the most fun age and what's the most difficult age?

I was just curious about other moms' experiences. I personally found 1 year to be a bit tough—always running around, constantly touching things. My oldest daughter also always ran off. I personally find 5 years to be an easy age so far, compared to 1 year. But anyway, what did you all find easy and what was a bit tough at your child's age? Of course, every age is nice, but there are definitely ages that are more challenging and easier. Greetings, Madelene

Every age has its perks. They go through phases. My oldest is 11 now, and you can say that’s not the easiest age, mind you.

Hi Cis, yes, I totally agree with you. Every age has its own difficult and easy sides.
So far, for me, the hardest has been the 1-year-old stage.
But at 11 years old, as you describe, I don’t have any experience yet. It’ll probably have its own tough spots too, especially close to puberty.
It’s nice to read about someone else’s experience.

    hi madelene

honestly, i don't even remember exactly what the phases were like at 1 year old hihi and i have a daughter of 11 and a son of 7,

my daughter has been in pre-puberty since she was 9, as they so nicely call it, but this age does have its charms, it's nice to go shopping together and stuff, but when she does something she's not supposed to, pff, then you get those "yes but" retorts and sometimes it really gets on my nerves

my 7-year-old son is also quite a handful at the moment, testing boundaries and when you say something about it, it's "oh" to everything you say

now it might seem like it's all drama, but luckily it's not that bad whahahah

Hi Cis, yes, that's true, every age has its own charm.
It's totally understandable that you don't remember much about when they're 1 year old; you'd forget it quickly anyway.
But I really relate to what you said about your daughter. I was just as stubborn in my own teenage years and before that.
They always want to have the last word on everything.
The upside is that they have their own opinions and won't just let anyone talk them into things later on. A strong character. A compliant kid might not develop their own character later.
My mom always let me have the last word. She thought, well, this teenage phase will end eventually, and she found it important that I could express my own opinion and actually had one.
Anyway, I'll experience it all soon. I'm already preparing myself for it, haha.
They're 4 now, the oldest is 5, and the youngest turns 6 at the end of January.

    Hi Madelene,

For me, it's all still to begin, but even though my little boy already had quite a bit of discomfort at 12 weeks, I still find it all so special. Probably very relatable for first-time moms, right?

I find it amazing how much a tiny little man learns every single day. Each new day can bring something new, and I'm truly fascinated by that. I always find such a tiny little thing absolutely adorable, but on the other hand, I teach in third grade, and almost all the kids who are younger or older always catch my attention too

So every age will surely have its own beauty—I'm already curious...
Well, let's not think too far ahead for now ...

    Best wishes!

    Hi Greet,
I still remember clearly when they reached the age of your little boy. It’s also really nice to follow their development when they’re so small. It’s beautiful to see how they learn something new every day and explore the world around them.
I also really enjoyed the 6-month stage.
Of course, every age has its own charm.
But I found 1 year quite challenging.
I don’t think I have such a strong connection with the 1-year stage.
I also really enjoyed the baby phase, especially the second half.
Indeed, it’s best not to look too far ahead.
Just enjoy your little boy while you can. They grow up so fast.
Enjoy this time—it won’t come back.
    Warm regards,
    Madelene

I just wanted to add that it might also be that it felt spicier to me for a year because I was pregnant then, which might play a role.
Then everything is naturally much heavier.

    Hi Madelene,

I think that definitely played a role, I can perfectly imagine how heavy that must have been! I find it tough at times myself now

Fortunately, those sweet little snouts make up for it again, right?

    Best wishes!

    Hi Greet,
Yes, indeed, it definitely played a role.
Looking back now, it was mainly because I was pregnant again when she reached that age, which made it much harder for me to deal with her age.
I’m almost 100% sure that if I hadn’t been pregnant, I would’ve found her age easier to handle.
Then I probably would’ve had a completely different experience with her being one year old.
But yes, just like you beautifully describe, those sweet little faces make everything right again.
I’m grateful every day of my life that I have them and that I’m their mom.
    Best wishes, Madelene
