Still pregnant despite the Mirena?!

Hi everyone,

I'd like to share my story here for a moment. About 4 or 5 weeks ago, after having sex with my boyfriend, I got such bad pain in my uterus that I went to the night doctor. The doctor said everything was fine and that my cervix was just slightly open.

I was convinced that my Mirena wasn't in place anymore, but he absolutely ruled that out.

I had symptoms for 2 more days, and since then I've felt nothing. However, I suddenly started getting my period again from that point on, and I even felt ovulation again—it felt like I didn't have a Mirena anymore.

My own doctor said I just had bad luck and that some women experience this. I've had the Mirena for almost 4 years now.

I've trusted what he said, but I still feel like the Mirena isn't in the right place anymore. I can still feel the threads, but less than before.

Now here's the thing: I'm more than 2 weeks late. My breasts are very tender, my nipples are super sensitive, and my breasts look bigger and swollen. I'm often nauseous, have a lot of heartburn which has irritated my esophagus, and it feels like my food is getting stuck. I also didn't feel ovulation this time! The test says I'm not pregnant, but my gut says otherwise! The doctor told me to take another test and then call to make an appointment. She said I can only do that in a week and a half.

I'm so curious that I want to know NOW. If I am pregnant, that would be very welcome.
Doesn't it make sense that I feel this way??

Some women really want to feel it because they want to be pregnant, I'd just wait for the tests.
It's quite possible, seems like you can also get pregnant with an IUD in place.

    Good luck with the wait.

When I read your story, it feels like you're talking about me. I went through the exact same thing. I had a check-up at the hospital's GP, and everything was fine. Two months later, I went to my family doctor because I wasn't feeling well—nauseous, vomiting, frequent urination, so tired. The doctor said it was probably due to stress and prescribed some medication. I also had to give blood tests. Everything came back normal. Then I went on vacation abroad. The symptoms only got worse. I went to a doctor there, and it turned out I was 14 weeks and 6 days pregnant!!!!!!
