pregnant or not?

I have a quick question because you read so many different things on the internet.

I took an Action test yesterday and it said I was pregnant. An hour later I took a Clearblue test, which also said pregnant 2-3 weeks, and according to the instructions that means 4-5 weeks.

But now I'm really doubting it. I don't believe it, and since my last period was almost 45 days ago, it seems to me that I might still get my period. The last time I had my period was on Friday, August 22nd, and it lasted for 3 days before stopping.

Could it be that I'm going to get my period now and that's why the test says I'm pregnant?
I do have that feeling all the time that I'm going to get my period, and I have those little stomach aches.

I just can't bring myself to believe it. On the internet you read that a test can give a positive result and that you can still get your period a week later, meaning it was a false positive on the test.
Has anyone here had experience with this?

I'd love to hear from you.
Love, Juul

Can hardly believe it. I've been having period cramps the whole time and keep checking the toilet to see if I've gotten my period.

The midwife says I should wait two weeks and then take another test, but that's easy for her to say.

    Thank you! I'm hoping so!

    Hi Juul,

I really think you're pregnant too. I've had a positive test since last Saturday and I'm now also feeling a sort of period-like cramping in my lower belly. Sometimes they go away and then they come back. It's a bit worse in the evening, and I also feel really bloated and have a swollen belly. It's still exciting and unreal, and anything could happen. But you shouldn't think about that. I'm trying not to either, so I can slowly but surely start enjoying the idea that I'm really pregnant!!

    Hi Estrella,

Yes, I have a lot of trouble with it during the day and not in the evening.
I can't enjoy it right now because I really want to have certainty.
But when do you get that, it's difficult.

Good luck with your pregnancy, enjoy it and hope that my certainty will come soon.

A test only shows you're pregnant if you are pregnant.
If you still get your period later on, that's a miscarriage....
The length of previous cycles doesn't matter; only the start date of your current cycle is important to calculate how far along you are approximately.

That "not quite" feeling is very normal.
I also thought for weeks that I was going to bleed after all, but it's just your stretching uterus that you're feeling!

    Congratulations!

    Greetings, Kruimel

    Hi Juul,

I’m experiencing the same uncertainty as you, in waves. But as Kruimel said, a test shows pregnant if you are pregnant. I went to the GP, and she also said that a test only indicates pregnancy if there is enough HCG (pregnancy hormone) in your urine. And in early pregnancy, it can still turn into a miscarriage; sometimes that happens before the 4th week, and most women think it’s just a period. After all, they haven’t tested yet because they weren’t late yet.

My first day of my last period was September 2nd, and I tested last Saturday. Normally I have a cycle of 28-29 days, so my expected period was Monday. But I already had a positive test 2 days before my expected period. So actually, I’m only 2 days late today.
I’ve done 4 tests now, all positive (3x Kruidvat test, 1x Clearblue which indicated 1-2 weeks pregnant). I’d love to check daily if the test is still positive, but I don’t want to drive myself crazy haha! It’s all still very early, and it’s realistic that it could still go wrong. But I have no control over that either. I’m hoping for the best and am already happy, even if it’s still a bit cautious.

Besides the crampy and bloated feeling in my belly, I don’t have many other symptoms yet. I do have waves of feeling hot and cold, and I’m more tired than usual.
There’s no nausea yet, so we’ll see how it all plays out.

In any case, I want to congratulate you on your pregnancy!

    Hi Estrella,

Yesss, I'm so happy too, but also like, "it probably won't be," because I wanted it so badly, and then you always think, "it won't work out for me."

I'll test again in about 2 days, then wait and hope for the best.

I wish you lots of strength and hope for the best for you too, and that you'll get a healthy baby.

Let's try to enjoy it, hehe.

    Thanks for your reply.

    Hi Juul,

Yeah, I totally get it. I also thought, "No, it can't be true, I'm pregnant?" but it really is! That's why it still feels quite surreal. I find myself being quite objective about other people who are newly pregnant, but when it comes to myself, it's different. It's nice to hear/read that you have your own insecurities too. It's all part of the package.

Just do another test in 2 days, and if that's positive too, then definitely try to enjoy it as much as possible. It's nice to be in touch with you like this.

I wish you a great pregnancy and, of course, a beautiful, healthy baby!

    Love

    Hi Estrella,

Yesss, I think a lot of people feel that way, hehe,

Yeah, it's such a forum. I'm not usually like that, but in these uncertain times when you can't talk to many people about this situation, it's really nice to be able to do it here.

Thank you, I'm testing again in 2 days.

    Estrella & Juliette,

    Congratulations on your pregnancy!

I totally get what you mean about those types of feelings – it’s such a mix of awful and amazing, right!!?

I’m 13 weeks pregnant now, and at last Wednesday’s ultrasound, we saw a beautiful, tiny, perfect little baby with everything looking great, and I still can hardly believe it :-).

In most cases, everything goes well, so just assume that’s the case here.

    Enjoy it!

    Hi Linda,

    Congratulations!!! That's wonderful.

I'm starting to believe it more and more because my body is acting differently than usual.

I'm really happy but also super nervous.

    Enjoy it!!!

    Love, Juliette

    Hi Linda and Juliette,

Congratulations Linda! Super good news and nice to have this confirmation.

I'm even more unsure than I already was, since I lost some blood this morning. I called the GP right away and they advised me to wait and see. I don't have any cramps or anything, but it just doesn't feel right at all.
Nature will sort it out, but the uncertainty and the abruptness of it all is really nerve-wracking.

I hope you two can stay a bit more carefree. I'm crossing my fingers for you that everything goes well.

    Love!!

    Hi Linda,

It’s really tough because in situations like this you want to know exactly where you stand. It feels a bit unfair that cautious joy about a pregnancy can suddenly turn into uncertainty and disappointment.

The bleeding hasn’t continued, though, so I have no idea what’s going on.

I really think it’s too early for a nice ultrasound, since I’m only 4 weeks and 4 days pregnant. Suppose I hadn’t tested before my missed period—I could have thought today that my period had just started. If the bleeding continues, it’s considered an early miscarriage, so I also think the GP can’t offer any other explanation right now. It’s a wait-and-see situation…

I can’t imagine that bright red blood is ‘normal’ at 4–5 weeks of pregnancy. Or am I wrong?

    I’ll keep you posted.

    Love,
