How much time between the second baby?

Hi,

We're going for a second baby, our daughter is now 7 months old.
Are there any people here who have a second baby so close together and have positive experiences with it?

We had 19 months between the first and second, and 20 months between the second and third... So both times we got pregnant again around the baby's first birthday. Of course it's busy, the second one cried for 10 months so that was a tough year, but honestly I find it manageable now. Three boys, now 3, 2 and 0... They really have plenty of company with each other. Good luck with your 'choice' and I hope you're blessed to have another lovely little one!

phew, sounds intense! We have a 2-year-old son and are now trying for a second. Friends of ours were also pregnant 6 months after their first was born (due to the ticking clock, almost 40..) and it went really well. It's a tough time for them, but they're doing great. So it's totally doable. It's just really hard when you're heavily pregnant and still have to lift a toddler who can't walk yet.

We have a 16-month-old son, and I'm already itching for a second one!
Both my husband and I would like to have a second baby soon, so the age gap isn't too big.
    We'll see how it goes!

    Good luck!

    Hi anonymous.
I'm really struggling with what to do myself.
My little one is now 2.5 months old, and the first 3 months have been tough for me.
And honestly, my little one is doing okay compared to the stories I hear and read.
But my sleep deprivation and exhaustion make me feel like I never want to go through the first 3 months of a baby's life again.

But then I see my little one laughing, playing, babbling, and it's hard to say no.
(Of course, if I get pregnant again, it's always a question)

Now I'm wondering whether not to wait too long and start trying again around their first birthday so you're not completely out of the game,
or wait longer with a bigger age gap.

My partner would ideally like 2 more tomorrow hahaha.

I think we should listen to our feelings.
    Time will tell.

When our little boy was 5 months old, I got pregnant with our second child. Now the little sister is born and they're only 14.5 months apart. It was a conscious choice and we've never regretted it for a single day. He's super sweet to his sister. Not a trace of jealousy. Next year we're planning to go for a third child.

Here’s an 11-year-old daughter and a 7-year-old son, and now pregnant with the third one.

Our daughter is now 14.5 months old, and we're working on a second one! That would give an age difference of about 2 years. We think that sounds nice! But I wouldn't have minded if it had been sooner

Hi! My oldest and youngest are only 3 years and 4 months apart, and I think that’s perfect. When my oldest just started preschool, I was just barely pregnant with my son.

Now we’d like a third child, but there’ll probably be a bit more time between them since he’s just turned 3, and we’ve only just given ourselves the green light for a third. So hopefully it won’t be 4 years apart.

We started young, I was just 21 when I gave birth to my daughter and almost 24.5 when my son was born. So hopefully I’ll be 27 by the time our third comes along.

But if you feel fit enough to start trying for a second now, and your partner is okay with it, then definitely go for it. I’d probably wait another 2-3 months myself, but it’s everyone’s choice! Good luck in advance ;-)

I personally have 2 kids with 1 year and 9 months between them, but I have to be honest, it was tough. And still is, though less so now that they're preschoolers. Still, I really underestimated that first period; they're the "tropical years."

And oh, how hard it was to be pregnant and then have such a little one demanding your attention. No, maybe it's nice for the kids later on that they're so close in age, but for parents it's super tough. I found it intense, and even now it's still like that sometimes.

They're also constantly fighting because they're so close in age—quality of age, world of experience, competition, rivalry—pff, it's not always easy for parents.

But this is just my experience with it.
    Greetings, Madelene

I think it really depends on how much stress you can handle and whether you can easily split your attention between two little ones. And you should ask yourself if you won't find it too heavy during your pregnancy, because such a little one naturally demands attention, and if you're feeling rough then, it's not going to be easy. Also, it's very important whether your oldest child is ready to share mom with a brother or sister.

    Greetings, Madelene
