anyone suffering from varicose veins?

Does anyone have varicose veins and tips on what I can do to reduce them? I'm now 29 weeks and really scared that I won't make it to the end this time. Help!

    Hi, Eveline.

That’s really tough about your varicose veins, but don’t let it get you down. You’ll get something amazing in return. So feel free to wear them with pride!

Right now, it’s important for you to keep your blood flowing well. So sleep on your left side, keep your legs elevated often, move regularly, and avoid standing or sitting still for too long. And of course, wear special compression stockings. Just chat with your midwife about that last bit.

    Love, Annabel

    Hi Eveline,
That sounds really tough. I’m almost 32 weeks now and I’m also having quite a bit of trouble with it. I’ve started wearing support tights and support hold-ups from stessonline.nl, as recommended by an acquaintance.
In the evenings, I make sure to lie down early with my legs elevated, and at night I have a pillow under the foot end of my bed... who knows, maybe this will help you too!!

    Strength and best wishes,
    Marieke

    Hi Eveline,

I'm also starting to feel them more and more, and I'm only 17 weeks... And I'm a fitness instructor, so I'm still working out 7 hours a week! I thought that was plenty of movement.
I guess it can't be prevented.
Maybe your midwife has some handy tips.
    Best, Wen.

    Hi

I don't have much to add to the tips... you can hardly do more
I already had it during my pregnancy so it would only get worse.
I do have compression stockings now and have to say they help quite well, maybe ask your GP?
    Greetings Maris

You either have them or you don't; you can't do much about it. Avoid straining (heavy lifting) and give yourself rest. You can't prevent them, just make sure you don't get any pain. I have a lot of trouble with them myself. I got them at 24 weeks pregnant. Before that, I had a few small ones because I was very sick with a lot of coughing and sneezing. That's how I got one in my groin as big as a fist. They're also called hernias. Take good care of yourself and let them be treated. Greetings, Denise

Massage can help, compression stockings if needed, and there are also acupuncturists who could help you.
    Good luck!!!

It really depends on how severe the little purple veins are; you can have them laser-treated later (in my case), and I’ve already had surgery twice.
I’d just wait and see how bad they are after giving birth, then talk to your GP if they’re really bothering you… If you have pain or an unpleasant feeling, they should help you out.
I’m curious though, have you tried anything yet? It’s just annoying, pff.
Yeah, massage is nice. There are special massages for pregnant women, but that’s not affordable (costs 30 euros here O-) and isn’t reimbursed.
It’s nice to read these tips; I’d never heard of acupuncture before…
    Good luck with it!

I have to take Daflon 500 twice a day, prescribed by my gynecologist to reduce vein swelling.
I also got the tip to rest regularly and elevate my legs.
