Egg donation bank

I heard today that Utrecht has started an egg bank. You can donate your eggs there, I guess if you have extra ones from your own successful IVF to help others get pregnant.

Would you consider that?

Not me, no. They've been doing it for quite a while now, and recently I heard an opinion that really got me thinking.
Apparently, if you're from Belgium, most of the eggs come from... I thought Norway. It could also be another country. I don't remember anymore. But imagine this: your daughter is born from such eggs, and then meets a guy who also happens to have been born from eggs from the same donor. The chance of Down syndrome increases.
At the beginning, when this procedure with donated eggs was just starting, the chance of encountering this was indeed very small. But now, after all these years! I think that chance is getting bigger and bigger.

No, not me. And it’s not because I don’t want others to get pregnant and enjoy having a baby. I’d find it really upsetting to know that a baby of mine is out there somewhere. I’d be happy to be a surrogate out of love for someone, but I’d never do it with my own eggs. I think it’s really noble of women who do donate their eggs—huge respect!
