I think your husband is just a bit scared. And that's totally fine. Give him some time. And girl, to be honest, if it had been up to us, I definitely would have saved up a lot first. But how much time are we talking about here? Is that 10,000 really a multi-year plan?

With my first two, we literally had nothing. It wasn't exactly the best situation I was in either, and everything turned out fine. Now I'm pregnant again, after a tough year with three miscarriages, my savings account was pretty much plundered. I poured my grief into shopping, eating out, and day trips. Now we can still save a bit every month. If I have money left over from the groceries, I'll run to HEMA.

But seriously, girl, talk to your husband and ask if he's scared. Tell him about your grief too, but don't blame him. Let him know it'll probably take a little while to get pregnant, and then a pregnancy lasts another 9 months. 8 of which you'll experience. Just check the contract you're getting.

Wishing you lots of strength and success!

    Hi Beertje,

I think my husband indeed still has some anxieties. He says he doesn't really doubt whether he (and we) can handle it, but rather whether we'll make ends meet financially and if we'll be able to move in the future (back to our hometown).
I do have that feeling too, that many other families also can't save huge amounts before having a baby. Especially when a baby wasn't planned. Saving up will hopefully not take longer than a year, max. a year and a half. But that's still quite a pill to swallow for me, since we initially agreed that I'd stop the pill after the new year and that we'd try for a baby in February.
Oh Beertje, that sounds really tough for you! But it's nice to read that you're pregnant again and that everything went well with the first one too. Are you already quite far along in your pregnancy?
I think we indeed need to be able to think about it a bit more easily. We're both planners, but sometimes you just have to go with your gut feeling. I've worked a lot last week, but I'll definitely sit down with my husband for a chat soon. Thanks for the tip about my contract!
Beertje, thank you so much for your encouraging words and advice. It's nice to be able to open up and put everything in perspective. And it's really nice that you keep me grounded. Thank you and lots of strength and enjoyment with your pregnancy!

Just got the prenatal voucher.. I'm really curious because I heard a lot of positive stories about the happy box...

I noticed you can pick up quite a lot of packages, I didn't expect that.

I really have 2 stretch marks on both sides of my belly.. my belly suddenly started to show... haven't got any yet but I heard it's hereditary, my mom had a lot so I hope that's just a myth..
