Stay Calm
Hi,

I'm really worried.

I've been trying to get pregnant for a while now, but it just isn't working.
My body keeps playing tricks on me.
For the past week, I've been experiencing all sorts of symptoms that could indicate pregnancy.

Headaches,
Nausea, especially in the morning,
Low to high appetite,
And then dizziness,

Fatigue,
Sensitive breasts,
Cramps,
Flashes of heat,
Clear discharge,

But unfortunately, I'm still getting my monthly periods.
I went to see my GP last week to voice my concerns. The doctor referred me for a blood test.
General check-up; anemia, folic acid, vitamins, esophagus, infections.
Nothing came up from the blood test. Everything was fine. My hemoglobin level was actually slightly on the high side.

The GP advised me to take a pregnancy test anyway, because it does happen that women continue to menstruate during the first few months of pregnancy. I took this test this morning, but unfortunately, it was negative. Now the doctor wants me to keep a diary of my symptoms and to come back in 2 weeks if the symptoms don't go away or get worse.

This makes me so anxious. Especially since the GP can't explain it either

Now, one question keeps haunting my mind: Despite the negative test this morning, could I still be pregnant?

Love, StayCalm

    Hi Stay Calm,

First of all, I wish you lots of strength. It must be incredibly tough to want to get pregnant so badly and not be able to yet. For peace of mind, I’d suggest taking another test in a few days. Has your GP already taken a blood sample to check if you’re pregnant? A blood test can detect pregnancy earlier than a urine test.

Maybe it’s worth visiting an osteopath—perhaps there are tensions in your body that are reducing your chances.

I also read recently that many women and men have an undiagnosed gluten (coeliac) allergy. Coeliac disease can be a major factor affecting fertility. You can easily get tested for this with a blood test. A gluten-free diet and extra vitamins can help resolve the issue and boost fertility. Good luck!
