You're asking what associations it brings up... I immediately say "hockey"...
Our daughter plays hockey and I know two boys there named Thijmen... Hence...

It's a nice name, but I'm not really into it... a friend's son is called that... I don't find it very strong... it kind of fits in with... Jelmer, Elmer, Melvin, Ties, Siemen... I find all those a bit weak for a man.
