It takes so long...

Hi! My partner and I have been trying for our first baby for 2 years now, but still nothing... We're both healthy. Does it take some people this long? Do you have any tips? Because every month when I see my period coming again, it's such a painful moment for me, and I can cry for hours.

Maybe try to take a break from it for a bit and just enjoy having sex every other day, instead of making it feel like a chore. My friend was really stressed about it, they had given up, and then a few months later she was pregnant... coincidence or not, I think it does have an influence. Good luck, and hopefully it happens for you soon :-)

    Lots of love

    Hi Anon (topic starter)

Personally, I don't believe in "just stop thinking about it and you'll get pregnant"... there are conditions that really don't just go away if you suddenly stop stressing about it. So that's total nonsense!

If you've been trying for 2 years, there really is a chance that something isn't right with one of you..
I'd suggest paying a visit to your GP.. That way, at least you'll know where you stand.

Have you tried tracking your temperature, using ovulation tests, acupuncture (sounds woo-woo, but at some point you'd do anything to get pregnant)?
Maybe it's all worth a try..

Good luck with everything, I know how you feel!

You don't have to believe in it either, little one..
Like I always say, whether it's luck or not..
but it is weird that when they weren't so focused on it, it suddenly worked.

    @other anonymous

    I did say 'personally'..

It's just something you don't want to hear when you've been trying to get pregnant for a long time.. partly because it's also just impossible!
So in cases like your friend's, I just leave it to chance
Well, everyone's got their own thing, right?

You should know how often I've heard it.. and my PCOS doesn't get better from it, mind you!

Yeah, that's true too... it sounds really frustrating!

    Hi Anoniem.
Have you been to the doctor yet?

Maybe there's something that's making it difficult.
My partner and I have also been trying for quite a while now, and it turned out I have PCOS. I'm on hormone treatment now, but unfortunately, it's still not working out.

Maybe a tip: go to your GP and ask to be referred to a gynecologist.

    Best wishes

    Hi Anonymous,

We've been trying since October 2012. Unfortunately, still no pregnancy. In October 2013, we went to the hospital for tests. It turned out that nothing was wrong with either of us. The gynecologist said nothing is standing in the way of a pregnancy. If it hasn't worked out by January 2015, we're allowed to come back.

I'm also trying not to focus too much on it. Some months it works better than others, but indeed, every month I end up feeling very disappointed if it doesn't work out.

I did use ovulation tests at one point, so I know when my ovulation is. That gave me some insight.

Have you been to the GP yet? And do you have a regular menstrual cycle?

What might have helped us too (not sure if it actually did, mind you, we had a few weird things happen that month I got pregnant) is the Pre-Seed lubricant...
It was the first and only month we used it.

Maybe worth a try? Costs a bit, but it's really nice stuff and specifically made for couples trying to conceive.

Thanks for the tip! I'll go take a look!

    Hi ladies!
Yes indeed, very frustrating, I know it! Is it clear to me whether you've already been to the GP? If not, I'd definitely do that, just a check for both of you.

Further, my tips are: indeed use ovulation tests, maybe PreSeed, and wheat germ oil, but then the liquid version (Jac Zitman, I used it for 2 months, and of course it could also be coincidence, but it's worth trying)

Furthermore, I also believe that not dealing with it doesn't work, but it shouldn't become an obsession. Plan fun things, enjoy, go on vacation, don't stress if you have a few drinks for no reason, etc.

For us, it also took 14 months, that's not very long, but also not fast. And eventually it just worked out. Suddenly, while I didn't expect it that month.

    Good luck!
