Hi everyone, I have a question. My boyfriend and I are now trying for a second baby. The first one came easily after the pill, but now with the second one, it just doesn't seem to be working. We're in cycle 5 now. I calculate my fertile window every month using an online calculator to figure out when my ovulation should be. Since I have no symptoms at all, we have intercourse every other day for 10 days. I'm starting to lose hope a bit. My mom says I'm stressing too much about it, and that's why it's not working. Could that be true? Could it really be? Now I'm in a bit of a dilemma: should I just let all this go and "go with the flow" (which will be really hard), or should I start using ovulation tests? I hope to get some answers here.

    Hey Samantha,

I completely understand you, and as for your mother, she's absolutely right!

When I first tried to get pregnant, I was obsessed with it every day, and disappointed every month, which led to lots of arguments with my husband!

I was so rushed that I went to the gynecologist and explained to him that I'd been trying for a year with no result. I remember I went to the doctor on Feb 14, 2012. He did an internal ultrasound to check if everything was okay, and he said: "Ah, madam, you're ovulating, so definitely have sex today, and then every two days."

I did my "homework," and I thought, if it doesn't work again, then so be it. I didn't want to focus on it anymore; I was fed up.

A few weeks later, I felt like my period was coming again, and I thought, oh no, not again... and yeah, I thought, well, that's it then. Also, since I had an irregular cycle, I didn't really know when my period would come. Anyway, it was on the 5th attempt that I finally succeeded.

Now, I recently found out I'm pregnant again. My husband and I assumed it would take a few months again, and I had promised myself not to stress anymore! I didn't even hesitate for a second. After stopping the pill, I only had one period, and now I'm 5 weeks pregnant.

So yes, I think it really is psychological. The more you think about it, the longer it takes.

So, some advice I can give you: just have sex every two days after your period and focus on something else.

    Good luck!

    Greetings
