When could you hear the heartbeat with the doppler?
I'm now pregnant with the 3rd baby, 13 weeks along.
But I couldn't hear anything last week.

Don't worry too much, but I do wonder why I can't hear anything??!!

    Hi Tanya,

I don't have one myself, but every time I go to the midwife, we also have to search for the baby's heartbeat.. (the last check-up was at 20 weeks and even then it was still hard to find). It depends on how deep the baby is positioned, etc. Anyway, I wouldn't worry about it.

They usually advise against using such devices because you can get stressed if you don't hear anything.

    Enjoy your pregnancy!

    Hi
At the midwife's, I heard him just fine.
But they probably have more expensive dopplers.
I have one from Angel Sounds.
But I did try it with oil. So maybe that's the reason I didn't hear anything.
I've now ordered that special gel from the dio. Let's see if it works then, hehe. (I hope it does)

Maybe she knew right away where the baby was at the midwife's office. That could also be why they found him so quickly?
It's totally possible that they have better equipment there...

Everything's fine with your little one, right? Do you have another ultrasound soon?

The midwife's Doppler does indeed have a much better microphone. Maybe your placenta is positioned at the front?

(Marion) No, I only have my gender-determining ultrasound on the 24th. And 2 days before that, I have an appointment with the midwife.
(Iza) Yes, that's possible too. I do remember that during the due date ultrasound, I had a lot of amniotic fluid. Maybe that's the reason.
Pff, you're starting to doubt a bit, aren't you, if you can't find the heartbeat.

mm that's still a while away, but don't overthink it. If you do, just call your midwife to ask if you can drop by for a quick check.

It's really tough on yourself when you overthink it.

We had a miscarriage last year. We only found out after the 12-week scan and had to have two D&C procedures. Because of that, I became really insecure, and at 4 weeks, it felt like forever... I even burst into tears at one point with the midwife. She said if you're that unsure or anxious, just tell me, and you're welcome to come more often. So from then on, I could come every two weeks. Now that I can feel the baby, I don't need to anymore.

    Oh wow, that's intense.
It's nice that you can come by more often.
But I'm trying not to get too worked up because then it'll only get worse.
After all, I'm only 13 weeks along. So it's possible I just can't find the heartbeat myself with my Doppler yet.
