Big family

Hello proud (expectant) moms (and dads)!
I'm pregnant with our 7th child and wanted to ask if there are large families here too?
It might be nice to chat casually with a little group here; it's no longer standard and you're quickly not accepted, which is quite a pity.
Of course, also for people with 1/2/3 kids.

We have almost 7 children aged 16, 14, 9, 7, 5, and 4.
We live in a regular row house with 3 bedrooms and an attic, and we live solely on my husband's salary, which isn't very much, but we always just about make it.
We buy almost everything second-hand and our two teenagers work for their own money, so we manage fairly well!
Greetings and hopefully there will be replies soon!
Kim

    Hi Kim,

Welcome to the Brabbels forum, and hats off to you for your big family! I find two boys already quite a handful, so I can’t even imagine how you manage
    Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Thank you, Iza! It's nice that you're responding
Having 2 kids is already pretty intense! Adding a 3rd one is often less stressful because the child just flows in, you have more experience, and you know what to do better and what to avoid completely. And that's how it goes with each additional child, of course. It's sometimes tough, especially when you have teenagers but also a toddler and kids in between. Keeping everyone happy can be difficult, and organizing outings is challenging because there are few activities that appeal to both teens and toddlers. Now there's another little one, so an even bigger age gap.
Vacations are especially tricky! Always looking for a campsite that's fun for both toddlers and teens!
It's a shame there are so few responses. Are there really so few people with large families here?

Hi! I also have a big family and I'm pregnant with my 8th kid. My kids are 17, 9, 8, 6, 5, and 3 years old, and my youngest is 9 months old. I also live in a big apartment with 3 bedrooms, and it works perfectly. Hats off to all the other big families!

Zooo, such a big family! I really have so much respect for you all with such a big family; it seems really tough to me. And what I always wonder is: how do you have time left for your relationship with your husband?

I'm already going a bit crazy sometimes with my little girls, and I only have two and one au pair. I think I would have only taken one child even without an au pair, because I find my two girls quite feisty sometimes.

But of course, I'm incredibly happy with them and never wanted it any other way; they are my life. And they are treasures.

Anyway, I think it's impressive; I wouldn't be able to handle it.

    Greetings, Madelene

Hi Madelene, it's indeed super fun to have a big family, but the only downside is that you don't get much time with your husband. What we always do during the school term is go out for breakfast somewhere once in a while or visit a private pool or sauna, so you still get some precious time alone together. That's quite important.

Hi Karima, it's nice that you're responding.
It's really lovely that you two still make time for each other, and it's naturally extra special when you're together and enjoying your time together.
Wishing your family lots of luck.
    Greetings, Madelene

I'm the dad of 5 boys (8, 6, 5, 1 year old, and a newborn) and one stepdaughter (12 years old). I'm super proud of my kids and really enjoy fatherhood. But I think 3 boys would have been my limit. Now I have a fifth son, while the second-youngest is only 1. I've gotten used to having 5 kids, and now there's another baby on the way. I find it quite tough I know it's just a phase; they'll grow up and it'll get easier, but right now it's just taking a lot out of me.

We're a family of soon-to-be 4 kids, and my wish for a 5th is still there.
