Multiple days overdue. Negative test.

Hi everyone.

I just want to share my story and hope someone has gone through the same thing or has some tips. I'll start from the beginning. In late September 2013, we stopped the pill. Got my period nicely (actually the placebo week) and then I didn't get it for 5 weeks. I thought, "That's a long time," so I took a test. And yes, a clear positive! So I was pregnant! Made an appointment at the GP and at exactly 8 weeks and 3 days, we had a beautiful, good ultrasound. Saw a beating heart. Unfortunately, on Christmas Day, I started bleeding. (I was exactly 12 weeks then, and all the gifts were already ready to finally tell the family the good news.) This bleeding didn't feel right, so after a long hesitation (because it was Christmas Day), I called the GP. I could come in right away for an ultrasound. And what I feared was true... we didn't see a beating heart anymore.... The following weekend, I had a natural miscarriage. We were able to close this chapter together and process it. Since this was my second miscarriage (also one in 2010), we had our blood tested and everything was fine

Exactly 30 days after the miscarriage, I got my period again. Very neatly. That was January 27th. On February 16th, day 21 of my cycle, I had one day of brown discharge and some sharp stabs in my lower abdomen. (Ovulation? Implantation?) Now I'm already 5 days late. I did a Kruidvat 2-for-5 test on Thursday and it was negative. I feel fine otherwise. No pregnancy symptoms. But I didn't have those when I was pregnant either. I do get occasional discomfort in my lower abdomen. (Not a period feeling).

Such a long story, I hope someone can help me.
Love...

No one? I'm already 8 days overdue and still getting negative tests. Tomorrow I'm allowed to have a blood test.

I have no idea. Your blood test will give the result. I've heard that some women test positive much later, but that's not common. I myself was 3 weeks late last cycle. Negative tests, then still got my period. Really frustrating with all the uncertainty! Let me know what the result was?

    Thanks for your reply, Wevin!
Yeah, that uncertainty is the worst. I had my blood drawn yesterday and can call on Monday for the results. I don’t even dare to hope. Yesterday I thought I’d started my period—just a little brownish/red spotting. But it was only one drop, and nothing since. I’ve read that you can have a late ovulation, and maybe that was the implantation bleeding? I’m not assuming that, though. But now I just want either my period or a positive test
That must’ve been tough for you too—3 weeks of uncertainty. Do you know what caused it?

Hi! Just an update. Got the blood test results today, and they were negative too. Talked to the doctor, and he prescribed some meds to get my cycle going again. I can pick them up at the pharmacy, and guess what?! I got my period. And that’s good... wow... what a hassle it’s all been! Anyway, at least we know something now. How are things going with you?

Hi Annemiek89! Yes, I actually got my period on day 43 of my cycle. (See the message above) Luckily I didn't have to use those medications
And that must have been quite nerve-wracking for you too! Are you trying to get pregnant now? X

Hey girl, yes we're trying too. Had a miscarriage in October after a bad scan (heart wasn't beating), since then cycles have been between 37 and 40 days.. NODA was today and after a day of brown discharge now I'm really on my period. Really sad, think it was a very early miscarriage because I had 2 light positive tests last week! Are you guys trying too? We're going hardcore from now on tracking temps, ovulation tests.. the whole kit and caboodle!
  7. Schipper1990 #8

Oh wow! Sounds really tough! But you were pregnant again after that, right? I’m on day 3 now, so we’re kind of in sync haha
I also bought a new thermometer this afternoon; I’ll start measuring from tomorrow morning. But I’m trying to let go a bit too. It’ll happen when it happens. But if you can give fate a little nudge...

It’s very possible that we’re both pregnant at the same time because last Monday was day 43 since I got my period! And the cycle before that was day 30. So no idea what it’s going to do now. Hard to calculate like that.. Haha yeah you do have to reserve your husband for a bit haha. And nice to hear that he was bothered by it after all. Only we’re more into it hihi! My period ended yesterday so onwards to my ovulation
  9. Schipper1990 #10

Oh, that would be really early! Then you'd have a very short cycle now. And day 19/20 would be your ovulation. Well, anything is possible! I'm also tracking my temperature now, but it stays neatly between 36.2/36.5. Do you use ovulation tests throughout your whole cycle or only when you think you're ovulating? No, your husband won't be against it haha. Just every day or every other day.. then it should almost certainly work! Good luck, girl. And no, I'm not on Babybytes yet, I'll just take a look!

Yeah or 2 eggs? Seems possible if you have a really long cycle normally..well, I'll see this round! For safety, chores can't hurt and are naturally super annoying
  11. Annemiek #12

According to the midwife, yes, but honestly, I’d never heard of it before myself! So exciting, tomorrow! I’ve also had 3 miscarriages, one of which would never have been noticed if I hadn’t been stupidly early with the tests... so we don’t really count that one.
I’m doing those ovulation tests every day this cycle because I want to know exactly if and when ovulation happens. If I can’t get pregnant this time, it’s still useful info for a fertility check-up, I figured!
It’s a bit awkward at work (I test every day at the same time: 12:00), but I sneak off to the toilet with a plastic cup from the water dispenser, do my thing, put the test in a travel toothbrush case, and secretly read it at my desk.
I’m rooting for you that nothing scary comes out of the DNA test tomorrow! x

The finger test helped no special findings or abnormalities found for either my partner or me! So nothing's standing in our way anymore! Such a relief.
Haha. . What a hassle with those ovulation tests! You're not supposed to use morning urine, right?! And do you see the lines already??
  13. Schipper1990 #14

Hahahahaha! So funny and so relatable! Fertility foods. I’ve also gone down that path! I only read that evening primrose oil can actually lengthen your cycle. We definitely don’t want that! I haven’t started with ovulation tests yet. I’ll do that if it doesn’t work out this month. Just easing into it haha. A baby needs to come here! Haha. X good luck, girl! And if all goes well, you’re now fumbling around with your camping toothbrush case! Good luck xxx

I normally have a cycle of 28 to 34 days, but usually around 31 days. Now I'm already on day 36... negative action test. Pffff, when I read those stories, that it turns out to be nothing after all... it really gets me down. I've been having a little pain in my stomach and lower back now and then... for almost a week already.
  15. Annemiek89 #16

That's so frustrating, Gigi! I've experienced that a lot too, and the most frustrating part is that when you're not sure if or when you ovulated, there's really nothing you can do but wait.
Maybe consider using ovulation tests for the next round (hopefully not, of course!)? I'm definitely rooting for you!
  16. Schipper1990 #17

Hi Gigi! Yeah, it’s really tough! And I think... the more you distract yourself, the longer it takes. But... you also have a chance that it did work out and you might have had a late ovulation and late implantation, so your hCG might still be too low for a test. The only thing you can do is be patient or get a blood test through your GP. That pain could also be because your period is coming. I know how you feel!
  17. Schipper1990 #18

Hey Annemiek! I was wondering how your temperature and ovulation tests went. X
  18. Annemiek89 #19

Hey girl! Bluh, lost my login details! But I'm back Finally got my KNALtest in hand today, had a temp dip too.. so I hope it shoots up again in the next 2 days, then I'll know for sure that I've ovulated! Feeling pretty under the weather here, it's really unpleasant ;-) How are you doing? Have you got ovulation tests yet, or are you still trying spontaneously?? Love!
  19. Schipper1990 #20

Hey! That's annoying about your login details. But luckily you're back online nice to have such a good test! Then it has to work! No, I don't have ovulation tests at home yet. We're moving to a new build in June. I've promised myself that if we're still not pregnant after we move, I'll go all out! Until then, we'll keep trying without aids. I do take my temperature every morning. Always handy. I do feel some small pricks/stitches/tickles in my lower left belly now. Exciting time too! Nice that we're on the same page. X
