Footsack on the birth list for a baby in May?

Hi!

We're expecting our first baby at the end of May 2014 and are currently getting the nursery ready and putting together our birth registry. Last weekend we ordered a stroller and they asked if we wanted to order a footmuff or sleeping bag for it too...

What do you think? It seems so warm in the summer, but is it still needed for the first month and for autumn?

Thanks!
Anke

    Hi!

A footmuff is ideal for a stroller. You won't need a sleeping bag or footmuff in the pram. In May, if it's a bit chilly, you can also put a double blanket or a cradle in the pram. That's my experience at least. I also have a girl who was born in May and I never needed it, only later the footmuff for the stroller because they sometimes get cold feet in there too.

I thought that footie sack was really ideal, especially when they're so tiny. And in May it could just be 15 degrees, you know. You don't have to dress them thick; just put the footie sack on halfway, and when it gets warmer, you open it up. I always found a footie sack much more convenient than all the hassle with pulling up that travel cover with sheets and blankets, but that's everyone's choice

A footmug isn't just for the early days. We actually used it when our little boy started sitting up in the stroller. Before that, he just lay under a blanket.

The footmuff is definitely really nice once your little one starts sitting up in the stroller. And maybe it'll be warm enough during the day when your child is a bit older. But it might also happen that you're out late in the evening, like after visiting grandma and grandpa, where you put your little one to bed so you don't have to be home by 7 pm. And when you head home, it's super nice because they just got out of a warm bed. You'll definitely enjoy it.

Okay, that's handy then! Thanks for all the replies!
