Hey girls,

I’d really love to hear your opinion because something’s been bothering me.

Tonight we’re going to my mom’s friend’s birthday party. Our 10-month-old son is staying with his other grandparents. I did this because the birthday isn’t really nearby and it’s usually pretty loud with lots of music, and I just wanted our little guy to have a nice, quiet sleep. And for us to enjoy the party at our own pace without constantly checking the clock, etc.

But all in all, my sister’s been giving me a hard time, saying it’s “ridiculous” that we’re leaving our son behind on such a day.

What do you all think?

Thanks in advance.

You're absolutely right. Lay out your arguments, and she'll probably understand... If she has kids herself, she'll get it better, I think. Good luck and stay strong!

    Love, sweetheart

    Hi sweetheart,

Thanks for your message. I did that too and really hoped it would bring more understanding, but that’s not the case. She’ll probably see it differently once she has a child of her own in the future.

She thinks it’s weird that I’m doing this now, especially since my mom and partner are looking forward to meeting their grandchild.

Thanks for your message, it really helps.

    Have a nice weekend!

That's totally normal, I used to bring my kids to my niece's place too when we went to birthday parties. For me, it was nice to relax a bit because then you're more present at the party. And for my kids, it was better to avoid all the commotion because if it gets late, they just become grumpy. No, I totally understand you And it's actually much nicer for the child to be with grandma and grandpa, nice and quiet without all the hustle and bustle. Greetings, Feline

I think it's totally normal, you know!
And also much nicer and calmer for your little one.
You've really thought it through well for your child.
    Greetings, Kristy
