Hi! I’d love to hear your thoughts.
We’re expecting a girl…
I was hoping to name her Lorena,
but the last name is Sena, so it rhymes.
What would you do?

    I think it's totally doable.
Lorena is a beautiful name, it would be a shame not to go with it.
    Just go for it!
    Greetings, Loura

    Follow your heart, cute name
  3. Anna Guest #4

Doesn't sound very nice, I think it sounds like a cartoon character's name...

Lorena is a nice name though, that's not what I meant...
  4. fay Guest #5

Such a beautiful name, Lorena. I think it works well.
  5. trotsemama #6

I think Lorena is a really beautiful name, but it doesn't quite fit with your last name when you say it out loud. But you should do what feels right for you.
  6. rianne Guest #7

I also think it's a shame if you wouldn't choose it. Most people still call her by her first name, not her last name. I think it's a beautiful feminine name. Greetings, Rianna
  7. zonnetje Guest #8

    beautiful name, definitely do it
  8. Anonymous Guest #9

    I say let's do it
  9. kim #10

I don't think the combo is great either. Do you have an idea for a second name? That way the names aren't so close together.
  10. elze Guest #11

girl, what does the last name matter?
you're still called by your first name anyway.
if you start thinking like that, you'll get carried away
and then you won't be able to do anything.
Lorena is a super nice name, go for it!
    greetings, Elze
  11. trotsemama #12

Totally agree with you, Kim. That would be a good solution. You introduce yourself with your first and last name. You're often called by your first and last name. I do think you should take into account things like this and other things when choosing a name.
  12. kris Guest #13

Well, I can kind of follow Elze too.
Because when I'm at the doctor's office, they always call me Mrs. Oost,
    and not fully
    Mrs. Kris Oost,
    or Kris Oost.
At least my GP always just says my last name,
    Oost.
And to not take a name that's nice just because the last name wouldn't fit well,
    I think that's a shame.
I think there are very few people who would mind that.
And personally, I think Lorena with this last name works fine, nothing wrong with it
    Greetings, Kris
  13. miera Guest #14

    I always imagine myself as
    Mrs. Van der Meer
I never add my first name
I think Lorena is a beautiful name
    I'd say go for it
You might regret it if you really love the name and don't choose it
    It's truly a beautiful name
    Greetings, Miera
  14. virle Guest #15

If I may share my opinion, I honestly think Senna is a nice last name. It works well with Lorena too. I think it's a good fit. They both end in an 'a', which I find sounds nice. So if I were you
  15. virle Guest #16

would I go for this name
  16. ruud Guest #17

Ladies, what are you so worried about?
By the way, I think it's totally fine.
If my wife and I had thought so deeply about a name,
    it would have been difficult.
    We have 6
    children,
if we had thought so deeply about every name for each child,
it would have been a bit too much.
A nice name can be easy
    Greetings, Ruud
  17. trotsemama #18

Typical male logic, Ruud, haha. We women think much further ahead. It's like a story. You guys sometimes have it so much easier. Just find this nice. Yes? Okay, done, we're out. Women could learn a thing or two from that.
  18. kim #19

Well, there are plenty of last names where you really have to think carefully about which first name goes with it.

I'm not saying that I don't find these names at all fitting or that I think they're weird. I just don't think the combination is great. That's my opinion, and that's what was asked. I do think Lorena is a nice name, indeed. (No need to ask which soap opera you're watching, hehe.)

About the bit at the doctor's office: I'm never addressed by my first name at the GP's, but when I go with my daughter, they do say both names. First and last name.
  19. Mar83 #20

    Yeah, it's tough!
Honestly, I also think the combo sounds like a cartoon name or something. I wouldn't want to be called that..
Even though I think both names separately are nice, I find the rhyming too strong and it sounds too childish.
Personally, I'd rather go for Lorene and not end the name with an A.
You ultimately want a strong name that will be fully pronounced when she introduces herself, indeed, when she gets her diplomas, when she later wants to start a business etcetera
