secretly jealous

KimmyLynn
Hey ladies
I'm just checking in now
I've had the dream of becoming a mom for a long time
Now my partner and I have decided to finally start.

The friend groups of both my partner and me are all parents

Well, 1 of my only childless friends is pregnant.

I'm incredibly happy and was practically jumping up and down when she told me
Now that it's all about her pregnancy and how she's feeling etc
It feels like I'm getting slightly irritated
Like she's exaggerating..... When she says she's sick
I don't know if it's sneaky jealousy
That wouldn't be fair, she has every right to be super happy

Maybe it's just too many people in our circle getting pregnant at once

    Hi Kimmylynn,

That sounds like such a tough situation...
I think you're probably feeling a bit jealous, but honestly, that's not weird at all! Especially when everyone around you is pregnant or already has kids and you're not. I think every woman would feel the way you're describing right now.

Of course, you're getting annoyed by all the pregnancy talk! You want to be pregnant yourself, and then she keeps coming at you with all those stories... that's totally understandable, girl!
And it's not unfair either. Your feelings are valid, and even though you're happy for her, you're allowed to feel down about not being pregnant yet!

Honestly? If she's a real good friend, you can tell her how you feel and think. I'd also ask if she could share a bit less about the pregnancy... obviously still share the ultrasounds and stuff since you're her friend, but just less of the stories so you don't keep feeling down.

I'm rooting for you to get pregnant soon, then you can join in on those stories too! ;-)

hi kimmylynn it's totally understandable that you're struggling with this
if becoming a mom is your own dream
it's very human and feelings are often not under our control
i took 6 years to have our daughter who is now 5 and i also always secretly felt deep inside something like yeah sure let it work for them while i try so hard and it doesn't work for me
now with my second daughter i got pregnant quickly after just 1 month
super happy of course that i didn't have to wait so long for her
but once i was pregnant myself i could suddenly be really happy for other pregnant women genuinely happy without any painful or sad feelings
and then i realized even more that it was always jealousy from me because i was trying so long and it just wouldn't work out
don't feel guilty it's really very human
    greetings joze

    Hi Kimmylynn.

I completely relate to your feelings. We've been trying for almost a year now and still nothing, while everyone around me is just pregnant!
I think we have every right to be a little jealous!

We just have to keep hoping. I hope we succeed soon.

    Best, Ashley

    Yeah, it’s pretty frustrating.
I don’t know if I should tell her.

She didn’t want kids, obviously, but she’s against abortion.
But she’s been pregnant for a while now and only just found out.
And now that she knows, she’s exaggerating symptoms she just picked up from the internet.

She constantly makes a big deal out of everything, gets hot flashes,
    aches here and there.

To me, that seems like she’s making it up,
    and it really annoys me.
She acts irritated with everyone, always looking like that, and then says it’s the hormones.

    I don’t know, really.
It’s giving me second thoughts too.

Well, maybe you can bring it across in a nice way! To be honest, I think it irritates you more because she's pregnant and you're not. Could that be?? And that's completely normal, I think. I have those feelings too!

    Best, Ashley

    Hi there,

I know that feeling all too well.
There are several people I know around me who are pregnant or already have a child.
And that while I've been carrying this desire for children for so long.
I'm truly happy for them and enjoy seeing it,
but I also catch myself being secretly a bit jealous.
And somewhere inside, I'm also afraid that someone might use the same name as the one I already have in mind, because I've been thinking about that for several years now.

I can't wait to start a family of my own.

So Kimmelyn, you're definitely not the only one, and it's very understandable that you feel this way.
I hope you'll be able to share your happy news soon.

    Best wishes!
