Hi ladies, quick question: I often hear from women that they felt four days before their missed period that they were pregnant. Is that possible? Did you experience that too, or is it more common among women who already have one child?

Hi ladies, I have a question. I often hear from women that they felt pregnant 4 days before their period. My question is: is this more common among women who already have kids, so they notice it earlier, or do first-time moms feel it too? Did you guys feel it early, or was it much later for you? Greetings, Lia

    Hi Lia,

Yes, with my first pregnancy and now again, I already felt a little week before my period that I was pregnant. The symptoms matched, and I even took a Clearblue test 3 days beforehand, which was positive both times.

What’s always tricky is that some symptoms can also occur when your period is coming..

You can always take a test; if it’s still negative, then wait until after your period and take another test.. because if you take it too early, it might still be negative.

At least, I could never wait otherwise, you can also wait for your period and take a test if it doesn’t come after your expected date.

Hi, thanks for your explanation. I can relate to what you're saying. I can't wait to test either, but I'm trying to wait a couple of days, with great difficulty. So it makes sense that many women notice it early. My sister told me she felt unwell four days before her period. She was sure she was pregnant, but the Predictor test was negative. She told me, "This can't be, I know for sure, I feel it—those contractions and food cravings." Then she took another test that same day, a different brand, and it was clearly positive. So it was the test that was faulty. She felt it right. I also heard similar stories from my colleagues who noticed it early. It's nice that you mentioned you felt it so early with your first pregnancy. My sister's experience was with her second pregnancy. I'm trying to hold out until Monday to test. Best wishes, Lia

Yes! A week before I got a positive test, I already felt the implantation, little pricks in my bum. The first thing I said to my husband was "I think I'm pregnant." And it was true. I didn't have any symptoms yet. The month before, I had a miscarriage, but I didn't feel anything then, it was probably outside my bum, so maybe that's why I didn't feel it. Good luck!

I think it's pretty much a 'gray area'.
I'm pregnant with my first after three months of trying.
In the first and second month, I had a lot of symptoms, but then I got my period (withdrawal symptoms from the pill can look a lot like pregnancy symptoms, and if you focus too much on them, everything suddenly seems to fit).
In the third month, I decided I wouldn't even think about being pregnant until I was overdue and had symptoms. The week before my expected period, I had the usual symptoms, but also some new ones. Suddenly, I had no stamina, felt nauseous (in a different way than usual), and the symptoms I usually got before my period just kept going.
I tested positive 1 or 2 days after my expected period, and I'll get to meet our little miracle in 3 weeks!

I suspected I was pregnant with all my pregnancies even before getting a positive test. For me, it wasn’t so much about symptoms, but more of an intuition.

Hi Dreamer87, that sounds lovely. It's amazing how you can intuitively sense that you're pregnant.

It sounds like a dreamer, or that your baby let you know they were already there. Do you think that sounds too woo-woo? I actually believe in that. Lots of luck, Lia, and I hope you're pregnant. Greetings, Nens.

I forgot to mention how it was for me. I had intense cravings for food and was hungry all the time, 3 days before my period. I immediately thought, I must be pregnant, and yes, I turned out to be pregnant. That was during my second pregnancy. With my first, I felt a sharp sting on the side of my belly. Looking back, I think that was implantation. Otherwise, I didn't notice anything that I was pregnant. Greetings, Nens

I really believe in intuition.. those so-called "primal" feelings are very strong and you should always trust them.. as Westerners we're moving further and further away from nature and trusting science more and more than feeling.. even though your gut feeling is right 9 out of 10 times when you suspect something

About five days before I took the test, I really felt weird. I couldn't do anything all day and just lay on the couch. No period pain that was coming, but a completely different kind of pain. I'd never had that before, but I also didn't really think about it (we had just stopped the pill and I assumed we'd have to wait a year). But when I got a positive test a few days later, I realized it must have been related to that. Really strange.

    Hi

I felt 2 days after we had done it that we were pregnant.
    Very strange but really true!
Last year, 2013, we got pregnant in April. It was Queen's Day and we went out partying. I said, "Gosh, I think we're pregnant," but we never talked about it again until I missed my period, and yes, we were pregnant.
Unfortunately, it didn't go well, and we found out in July.
After much deliberation, we're finally back on the right track.
In November 2013, I said 2 days after we had done it that I think we're pregnant again. My boyfriend said, "Don't be silly, you can't feel it yet."
But I knew better... We had tested that night, but of course, after 2 days of messing around, you don't have hormones yet, so the test was negative.
Until I had to get my period again, and it didn't come, and yes, big fat pregnant.
I said, "See, I told you we were pregnant!"

Don't ask me what exactly I felt, but I just felt that my egg was fertilized!

so marion that's quite special then you do have a very strong intuition
i think your baby wanted to let you know very early on here i am

Lia, yes, it's really strange. My sister had this too after a few days.
You never really know for sure, of course, but my feeling was so strong..
I find it quite special. My feeling that it's a girl is also very strong. I had that with my sister too, and she gave birth to a beautiful daughter last year.
We'll see in a few weeks.
