don't you all hate the pressure to force your kid to eat?

Hi ladies, I was wondering if there are more mothers who don’t stress too much when their child doesn’t want to eat. My daughter never feels like eating around mealtime.

I was going crazy until I read a parenting book that covered this. It said that while parents might want to eat at 6 PM, your baby might have a different rhythm when it's time for their evening meal. Instead of making it a battle, you can tell your child, "Okay, not now, but a little later." She explained that forcing a child to sit in their high chair until they eat causes stress for both mom and child. The child feels the pressure and stress to eat, so they end up not eating at all, and their hunger stops spontaneously. But if you give your child the feeling that it's okay if they don't want to eat now, then later, you take away the pressure and stress. Often, you'll notice that they get hungry later on, which is even better because it wasn't forced. They feel their own hunger. So if you try again at a later time, they've been busy with something else in the meantime. If you try again then, the child won't feel your pressure and stress around mealtime. No panic if your child doesn't eat at 6 PM; they'll eat at 7 PM. Your child might need food at a different time than their parents. That was in the book, and I've applied it myself, and it works! My daughter no longer feels any pressure. If she doesn't want to eat, I try again an hour later, or sometimes half an hour later, and then she's hungry and eats ravenously. Amazing! I'm so happy I read this book. I just wanted to share this with you all. Greetings, Madelene.

Our little boy started eating when we stopped forcing it! He did get a dessert though. Not giving too much attention to it will sort itself out, and they don't just starve. Do what feels right for you. Every child is different. Good luck!
