Good morning.

Our little boy is now 12 weeks old. How often do you boil the bottles and teats?

And do you also store the bottles in the fridge?

Best wishes, Anita

I boiled the bottles once a day, and during the day I’d rinse them in between with hot water. I didn’t store the bottles in the fridge. There are quite a lot of bacteria in the fridge, so I wouldn’t keep my sterile bottles there. Best to put them in a clean hydrophilic diaper and then place them in a drawer or cupboard.

We had a microwave sterilizer. Really ideal!! And we would boil the bottles every evening this way. It was super easy to use and quick to get ready.

Once a week I cook them, keep the rest clean.

    Hi ladies,

I have a question. I always breastfed my first two kids. In two weeks, I'll be giving birth to my third son. Now comes my slightly silly question: I don't remember exactly how to sterilize the bottles properly. How long can they stay in the boiling water, and how long can the nipples stay in there?

I hope you can help me out. I want to sterilize them before the birth, so I can't ask my postpartum care nurse.

    Best, Nynke

Nynke, may I ask why you don't ask your postpartum care nurse? Or am I asking a silly question?
