Wanting a baby but my man has a low libido

Hi, I was wondering if there are more couples who want to get pregnant but whose partner almost never wants sex, and how they dealt with it. I'm often very sad and don't know what to do. We've been married for over a year and really want a baby, but my husband hardly ever wants sex. This has always been the case, but now it's really a problem (lucky once every three months, often half a year. Since trying for a baby, we manage once a month). When I talk about it, he just says: don't stress, it'll happen eventually. I don't know what to do anymore

Hearing this, I think it would be wise for you two to talk to someone. There’s probably a deeper reason behind your husband’s low libido, I think... Maybe he doesn’t feel ready for a baby yet, and it’s important to discuss this before you get pregnant or the baby arrives. Wishing you all the best!

That's really tough for you, especially since it didn't happen that often beforehand. I think it's good to talk about trying. Not so much because of the desire for a child, but because of the intimacy and love you share together through it.

    Hi,
Sorry for my late reply. No, this didn't happen before either, and unfortunately, it doesn't help if I try to seduce him. His mom has the same 'problem'. I never really thought of it as a problem, but it's certainly not fun. He really wants a baby, he says. I think I'll go talk to the GP. Thanks for your replies!

    Hi Senna,

Could I ask you a few questions for an article in a major women's magazine? You'll remain completely anonymous.

    Kind regards,

    Jody

So relatable. Here too, a man with a pretty low libido. He's often just too tired for it because of a busy life. Then he doesn't have the energy to have sex, whereas when we're truly free, he does want to do it more often. Fortunately, we do cuddle and kiss a lot. It is frustrating though, because it seems like too much effort to just let go a few times, while he does say he'd like a second child. There's nothing else to it. When the time is ripe, and it will have to be, it'll really happen. If not now, then it's not the right time yet, or it's not meant for you. I'm letting it go, ignoring it further, and leaving it up to God. Nothing you can do about it. You need two people for that. But you know, you're not alone, and it's not about you. Sometimes it's just too busy, and people feel some drive but don't have the energy to express it because of all the hustle and bustle.
